Chinese brand XTEP has made its way in running circles from the position of “cheap alternative” among names mentioned in the same sentence as Nike and adidas. The XTEP 2000km PRO model is probably the best proof of that — it has a full-length supercritical PEBA foam, i.e. exactly the material you’ll usually find only in race shoes sold for twice the price, and yet it intentionally skips the carbon plate. The number in the name refers to durability: the sneakers are built so that a ride of around 2000 kilometres won’t wear the sole smooth.

Full PEBA foam instead of a carbon plate
The midsole is made entirely of supercritically foamed PEBA with a declared rebound of 75%. In practice, that means the kind of response you’re used to from expensive racing shoes—the foam compresses underfoot and returns energy instead of absorbing it. But XTEP intentionally didn’t add a carbon plate to it.
That decision matters more than it seems. Carbon forces your foot into one rhythm, and over slower miles it can get in the way—so racers aren’t recommended for everyday training. Without a plate, the 2000km PRO can be used for easy runs, long Sunday outings, and even tempo, so they can comfortably serve as your single rotation pair. The outsole is made from CPU rubber and in the most stressed areas it’s reinforced to 3 mm, while the manufacturer claims it’s one quarter lighter than the previous generation.
A geometry that keeps your foot in place
The midsole height is 32 mm in the heel and 27 mm in the forefoot, so it’s a moderate 5 mm drop—a compromise that suits both runners who land on the midfoot and those who strike the heel. More interesting, though, is the width: the forefoot is widened to 116 mm, while the shoe’s midsection is narrowed to 87 mm.
So the shape copies the real foot — the toes have room to expand on push-off, but the midfoot is firmly wrapped and the shoe doesn’t wobble. Stability is what reviewers praise the most, and it’s the main difference compared to soft “cloud-like” models where you feel unsure at a higher pace. The upper is made of breathable jacquard textile, so in summer your foot won’t overheat in them.
What runners who already have them say
The shoes have a 4.9 out of 5 rating from 485 buyers, and several reviews are really specific. One runner compares the 2000km PRO directly to the adidas EVO SL and carbon racers: according to him, they feel fast, extremely stable, and surprisingly light—and he’d recommend them without hesitation. Another buyer in size 46.5 says they’re very lightweight and soft, with a firm midsole, and he loves them especially for speed workouts.
It’s also worth mentioning what keeps coming up in the criticism. A German runner who owns three different Chinese models at the same time ranks the 2000km PRO second—he says they’re the most stable of them, but they also have the hardest sole. So if you’re looking for a soft “pillow” shoe for recovery jogging, this isn’t your model. The same reviewer also points out sizing issues in a note that’s repeated by another 25 buyers.
Sizes, colors, and what to watch out for
You can order from size 39 to 47, including half sizes 40.5, 42.5 and 44.5. However, according to reviews, the sneakers run smaller than you’d expect—many runners recommend going up by half a size to a full size compared to what you wear in Nike or adidas. The safest option is to measure your foot length in millimeters and compare it with the seller’s size chart; XTEP states that for size 39 the foot length is 240 mm, and for size 45 it’s 285 mm.
There are several colorways right away—from understated white-black to white-red and blue, all the way to a bold neon yellow that’s also the most visible when running in the dusk. The manufacturer recommends this model for everything from runs starting at five kilometers up to the marathon, so it’s great for regular training, long runs, and races. And if you’re used to running with something softer, keep in mind you’ll need a few kilometers before you get used to the firmer foam.
