For years, EarFun has built a reputation for delivering decent sound for reasonable money. With the Wave Pro X though, it’s going properly high for the first time — it’s its most expensive and technically most ambitious model, and according to the manufacturer it took 30 months to develop. And on paper, it really looks like something that has no match at this price point.

Two drivers on the same axis — that hasn’t existed here yet
The main thing that sets the Wave Pro X apart is the acoustic architecture DCAA. Instead of a single driver, there are two in each ear cup, stacked on the same sound axis: the larger 40 mm driver with a DLC membrane handles bass and the lower range, while the smaller 10 mm driver with an LCP membrane takes care of the highs and detail.
The idea is simple — one driver always has to give something up. If you tune it for bass, you lose some clarity in the highs, and vice versa. By splitting the job between two drivers on a shared axis, you can avoid that compromise and still get a sound that feels like one complete whole. EarFun claims these are the very first headphones with a pair of coaxial drivers that also handle Qualcomm ANC and Auracast.
Eight microphones and ANC that adapts 800-times per second
Noise cancellation is hybrid and relies on eight microphones combined with QuietSmart 3.5 technology. The microphones capture outside noise and the sound inside the earcup, and the system fine-tunes the cancellation accordingly 800 times per second. In practice, this means ANC doesn’t have one fixed setting — it changes depending on whether you’re on a plane, walking down a busy street, or working in a café.
That same set of eight microphones, together with AI processing, also handles calls — it separates your voice from surrounding noise and wind. And here’s a nice extra detail: ANC works even in wired mode, meaning when you connect via USB-C and also through the 3.5 mm jack. This is absolutely not a given — most wired headphones disable noise cancelling.
Codecs you won’t find elsewhere in this class
A Qualcomm QCC3095 chip handles the processing, and the list of supported codecs is unusually long: LDAC, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, LC3 as well as classic SBC. The headphones carry both Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Wireless certification, so lossless transmission is genuinely backed up here, not just a marketing term.
Connectivity is provided by Bluetooth 6.0 with Google Fast Pair and multipoint for two devices at once — you don’t have to manually switch between music from your notebook and calls from your phone. Auracast is also included, letting you broadcast audio from one source to any number of headphones nearby, or tune in to public broadcasts, for example at the airport.
Battery life that lasts even on a long vacation
The battery is 800 mAh, and the manufacturer states up to 90 hours of playback with ANC off, or 50 hours with ANC on. A full charge takes two hours, but in practice you probably won’t even need to wait that long — 15 minutes on the charger is enough for around 10 hours of music.
The build weighs 259 grams, which is rare for fully featured over-ear headphones like this—and it can be folded into a flat shape. The box also includes a thin protective case. Control is handled by physical buttons, not a touch panel—which many people will prefer, because you can’t accidentally skip tracks. For the design, Wave Pro X earned a Red Dot Award 2026, and at CES 2026 it made it into the Top 50 products selected by USA Today.
It’s only fair to note that the stated battery lives are always the best possible ones—they’re measured at lower volume and without LDAC. With a lossless codec and louder listening, the figure will drop, but it will still remain far above what the competition delivers.
