We tested the strip!

As we’re starting our official partnership with Govee, we also got our first product from them. We chose the Backlight T2 TV strip because it features a dual camera with reliable screen color emulation, plus the price is pretty good. If you’re picky about tech products, you’ll definitely like this LED strip.
Govee also put effort into the unboxing experience, and the packaging is really high quality. Inside, you’ll find everything you need for installation, including plastic holders for better cable management and mounting the strip. However, we had an issue with our 55″ Samsung TV — the strip was too long, so on the top side we had to stick it not straight, but along a curve so the end of the section wouldn’t stick out behind the TV.
Also, some of the plastic mounts didn’t hold because the TV surface wasn’t completely flat but curved. During installation, it’s important to take your time and ideally get one or two extra helping hands. Then we connected the strip to the control unit and everything worked!
Top-notch app, great brightness
The Govee Home app is truly top-notch, and it’s clear it’s not some no-name brand. They have an impressive lighting ecosystem, and many of their products can communicate with each other — you can synchronize them by color and effects via their DreamView technology. We’ll definitely cover that in some other products later.
The strip itself has very high brightness — we could even see it in daylight. After the initial setup in the app, the strip together with the camera worked perfectly and replicated the screen lighting. We definitely recommend it — you can read more in our review.
Govee TV Backlight T2: Ambient lighting with a dual camera
Govee brings an innovative ambient lighting system that includes multiple components right away. Specifically, it’s an LED strip available in three different length versions.
The base version offers 3.6 meters and is designed for 55″ – 65″ TVs. But you can also choose the version for 75″ – 85″ models, or a version with an external corner ambient light.
The main attraction of this product is the sensor that hides a dual camera. It monitors what’s happening on your TV and adapts the lighting effects—now up to 50% more accurate, depending on your content.
RGBIC color spectrum and mobile app
A mounting weight takes care of attaching the sensor to your TV—it extends to the back of the TV. Place the sensor at an angle of 90° and adjust the balance with the back part.
The LED strip itself comes in a plastic package and is rolled up. It has up to 60 LEDs per meter, with an RGBIC color spectrum. Once you unroll it, you can stick the strip to the back of your TV. It also includes corner mounting clips and cut points if needed.
Lighting control is handled by the main unit included in the package. Connectivity is provided via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and there’s also a mobile app Govee. It offers multiple DreamView lighting modes, including reacting to the surrounding music, color spectrum, color scrolling, and more.
