In Beijing, Honor unveiled the Honor Magic9 Pro Max, its new flagship. Along with it, you also get the standard Magic9 and the Magic9 Super Edition. Pro Max features two cameras with 200 MP resolution, color tuning from the German film camera maker ARRI, and an 8,800 mAh battery. It's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, and in China it's already on sale—GShopper is also offering the Chinese version with delivery to Slovakia.
The Chinese version of the Honor Magic9 Pro Max is already sold by GShopper with delivery to Slovakia, and according to the store it should arrive in mid-October. With the discount code from the price box, the 12 + 256 GB version costs under €1,000, and versions with 512 GB are also available.
If you don’t mind a Chinese version smartphone that will work at full power in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, you get the same hardware for a lower price. It supports all our 4G and 5G networks, automatic OTA updates, Google apps, Netflix in full quality, and NFC payments.
The older Chinese Honor Magic8 Pro Air even has Slovak and Czech in the system. Now we have confirmed that the latest Honor Magic9 Pro Max in the Chinese version includes the Slovak language and that eSIM technology works natively as well, with Android Auto also supported! According to Honor, you can store up to two eSIM numbers in the phone, so your second number or travel data can be on without an extra physical SIM card. Before activation, just check with your carrier whether the Chinese model supports it.

Two cameras of 200 MP with ARRI tuning
The main camera of the Honor Magic9 Pro Max has a 200 Mpx 1/1.28″ sensor, f/1.57 aperture, and 23 mm focal length. The same resolution was also given to the periscope telephoto lens with an 85 mm focal length, whose sensor measures 1/1.4″ and whose lens has an f/2.6 aperture, which according to GSMArena corresponds to 3.7x optical zoom. The third is a 50 Mpx ultrawide lens with a 12 mm focal length, complemented by a 3D depth sensor.

The main camera and telephoto lens both have CIPA 8.0 stabilization, which Honor compares to a gimbal, and the main camera can reportedly level tilt by up to 3 degrees according to the manufacturer. Image processing is handled by Honor's own H1 chip made using the 6 nm process, which removes noise already in RAW data so more detail stays in the photo. The front camera has 55 Mpx and, as the first on Android, a square sensor, so you can take portrait, landscape, and 1:1 selfies without rotating the phone.

The phone records video in the ARRI LogC3 curve with 10-bit color depth and in the ARRI Wide Gamut 3 color space. Such footage looks flat, but it gives you much more freedom when color grading in editing. If you don't want to edit anything, you can use 87 official ARRI Looks, which change the video colors with one tap so they resemble footage from ARRI film cameras.

An ARRI Master mode was also added, with presets like Venice and ARRI Movie Live. Movie Live records in the cinematic format 2,39:1 and keeps filming for another three seconds after you press the shutter, so instead of one photo you get a short cinematic clip.

Audio is captured by a directional microphone that Honor calls a “rifle” film microphone. It combines a tightly directional capsule with an omnidirectional one, and it also picks up sound from a greater distance.
Honor Magic9 Pro Max supports two external teleconverters. The larger one G500 attaches to the 85 mm telephoto lens and extends the focal length to the equivalent of 500 mm, while the smaller G200 weighs 88 grams and creates an equivalent 200 mm with the phone. Videographers will also appreciate the SmallRig cage with mounts for handles, lights, and microphones.

All accessories are sold separately, but in China there is also a Master Photographer bundle for 10 999 yuan.
