- Honor’s first wide foldable is reportedly coming in January
- A 7.6″ display inside and a 5.5″ one on the outside
- A battery over 7 000 mAh, 200 MP camera
- A periscope that the Galaxy Z Fold8 doesn’t have
Wide-aspect-ratio foldables have been picking up after Samsung’s success with the Galaxy Z Fold8, and according to Chinese leaks, Honor will join them soon, too. Its first wide foldable is reportedly set to arrive in January, and with both Samsung and Apple’s iPhone Duo in mind, it aims to compete with a battery over 7 000 mAh plus a periscope-like telephoto lens that rivals don’t have.
What the leaks revealed about Honor’s wide foldable
The most details have been shared by the well-known Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, who says the phone will have an internal display with a 7.6″ diagonal and an external one with a 5.5″ diagonal. The main camera should offer 200 MP, complemented by a periscope telephoto lens, with both housed in a horizontal photo module. The battery, according to him, should exceed 7,000 mAh—potentially the largest capacity among foldables of this type.
Back in July, the same leaker claimed that Honor has accelerated the development of the phone and that the prototype is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip made on a 2 nm process. The price in China, he said, should start at 9,999 yuan, which is roughly about €1,200. Another leaker, Smart Pikachu, also gave a launch date, but it’s not clear from their post whether January applies only to China or also to the global market. As the 9to5Google site noted, Honor has not officially confirmed any of this so far.
A telephoto lens as an advantage over Samsung and Apple
The Galaxy Z Fold8 with an internal display in a 4:3 aspect ratio—and the iPhone Duo—bet on a wide form factor, but neither has a telephoto lens. That’s how Honor could match Xiaomi 18 Fold, which already has a periscope in its wide foldable.
Honor foldables have been made for several years and the current Magic V6 is, according to 9to5Google, among the better ones from 2026. However, it has a classic narrow format, so a wider foldable will be Honor’s first attempt at a different shape.
In Europe, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is sold starting at €1,999 for the 256 GB version, as stated by the portal Android.com.pl. In September, the Honor Magic V6 cost around €2,300 at Slovak retailers on Heureka. If that China price of about €1,200 were at least partially carried over to Europe, Honor’s wide foldable would be noticeably cheaper than Samsung’s. However, no one has confirmed the European price or availability yet.
