Nubia is set to soon unveil its newest flagship, the Nubia Z80 Ultra. This top-tier smartphone will hit the Chinese market on October 22, 2025, and even before the official presentation it appeared in a series of official photos that reveal interesting design details and technical specifications. The phone will be part of the high-end segment and will feature Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset yet – Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

No notch, with an under-display selfie camera
On the front there’s a full-area AMOLED display that impresses especially because it has no notch or cutout. Nubia is once again betting on an under-display selfie camera, delivering a clean and uninterrupted look. The display will be flat and offer a 144 Hz refresh rate, which players and demanding users will especially appreciate.
Official images haven’t revealed the exact display dimensions yet, but it’s expected to be a large panel with high resolution. The bezels are thin, the frames look uniform, and the entire device feels very modern. This combination of a notchless design and under-display technology makes the Nubia Z80 Ultra a unique model in the flagship market.
An upgraded camera system with 35 mm optics
The back of the smartphone features a slightly revised camera design, but it still keeps the brand’s signature style. We can look forward to a triple camera setup, where the main sensor will have 50 MP resolution and an equivalent 35 mm focal length—ideal for portrait and documentary photography. This choice confirms that Nubia is also targeting users who care about capturing great shots.
Besides the main sensor, there’s also a periscope telephoto lens that supports up to 50× digital zoom. The third member of the lineup is likely an ultra-wide sensor with a 1/1.55″ diagonal, enabling wider scenes to be captured without a significant loss of quality. Overall, the Nubia Z80 Ultra’s camera lineup promises versatile use and above-average results.
A huge battery and fast charging
Phone battery life should be very solid, since leaked info suggests it will come with a 7,100 mAh battery. That’s considerably more than most competitors, which could be a major advantage—especially for heavy use. Fast charging with 90 W power will also be included, ensuring you can top up energy in a short time.
More specs and design variants
In addition to the main features mentioned, we expect further improvements. The Nubia Z80 Ultra should come with a newer type of in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that will be faster and more precise. The frames around the display will also change—they’ll be even thinner, contributing to a more modern look.
The phone will be sold in three attractive colors: Phantom Black, Condensed White, and Starry Sky Edition. The manufacturer confirmed that these color variants will also come to the global market, although initially it will be a China-only premiere. Nubia is therefore aiming at international audiences and could surprise with an interesting price-to-performance ratio.
A powerful Snapdragon and Android 16?
The Z80 Ultra will be powered by the latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is currently Qualcomm’s most powerful offering.
The operating system hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but given the release date and software development, we should expect Android 16 with Nubia’s own custom skin. More details will definitely come before the October 22 launch, and we’ll be tracking the entire development.
