On October 12, OnePlus unveiled in China its new flagship, and OnePlus 16 has confirmed almost everything that leaked about it in the past few weeks. The phone gets a 9 000 mAh battery, a 200 Mpx main camera, and the first display on the market that runs at 165 Hz across the entire system—not just in selected games. Sales started right the next day, and according to the company, it was the strongest launch of an Android flagship this year.
The Chinese version of OnePlus 16 is already being sold by a verified seller, GShopper, in all four memory variants. With a coupon from the box and an additional 4.5% discount from GShopper when paying by bank transfer, the base 12 + 256 GB version comes to 856 €, and the top 16 GB + 1 TB variant comes to 1 209 €. The phone ships from China, and when it arrives you don’t have to pay anything extra, because customs duty and VAT are handled by the seller.
China Planet shopping TIP: GShopper has now launched direct bank transfer payments, so you can save another 4.5 % off the product price! Compared to card / Google Pay payment, you can get this product much cheaper. We described the full bank transfer payment process in our article.

ColorOS 17 system in the Chinese version includes English, German, or Italian, but it doesn’t have Slovak or Czech in the list of languages—and you can add them according to this guide. The Google Play Store is preinstalled, updates come via OTA, and payments work through Google Pay, Android Auto, and Netflix in full quality. However, the built-in eSIM on the Chinese OnePlus 16 won’t work on our network, so you’re left with two physical nano-SIM cards.
B20 band is missing; signal in rural areas will be weaker
When it comes to networks, there’s one important catch. The Chinese version doesn’t support the 4G band B20 (800 MHz), which Slovak operators use especially to cover rural areas and get a signal inside buildings. In cities you usually won’t notice, because the phone handles bands B3 (1800 MHz) and B7 (2600 MHz), but in villages, in the mountains, or deep inside buildings, the 4G signal can be weaker—or even absent—and you may fall back to slower networks.

It’s partially made up for by 5G. OnePlus 16 supports 5G bands n3 and n28 (700 MHz), which—for example—Telekom uses, and 700 MHz has a similar range to the missing B20. So where there’s 5G coverage, the phone will also connect outside cities. However, if you often go to areas with a weak signal, consider a phone that supports B20—such as the Chinese OPPO Find X10 Pro Max.
A display with 165 Hz everywhere, and 185 Hz in games
The flat LTPO OLED panel measures 6,78 inches diagonally, offers a resolution of 2 772 × 1 272 pixels, and has thick bezels of 1,15 mm on all four sides. OnePlus developed it together with BOE, which supplied a new bright material, X4, so the display runs at 165 Hz when scrolling through menus, switching apps, and during everyday use. The previous OnePlus 15 handled 165 Hz only in supported games, and otherwise moved between 1 and 120 Hz.

In games, the new model can go even higher—up to 185 Hz—thanks to a separate display chip, P4. The portal Gizmochina says that the native 185 frames per second are currently supported by six titles, and another 17 are expected to be added in updates. Peak brightness reaches 2 000 nits; in the dark, the display dims down to 1 nit. Under it is an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader.
Snapdragon made with a 2 nm process and three auxiliary chips
Performance is handled by Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the first Qualcomm chip manufactured using a 2 nm process, whose two strongest cores run at up to 5.0 GHz. OnePlus pairs it with 12 or 16 GB of RAM and storage from 256 GB up to 1 TB. Besides the P4 display chip, the phone also includes a touch chip T3 and its own network chip G3. Together with the new antenna, it’s designed to keep low latency even when the player holds the phone horizontally and the hands cover the antennas.
The manufacturer claims the phone maintained an average of 185 frames per second in Delta Force during a three-hour test at high details. It’s helped by the redesigned cooling with a split vapor chamber, which OnePlus says is about 40 % more effective and moves heat away from the areas where the player holds the phone.

A 9 000 mAh battery, but slower charging
Compared to last year, you improved the most with the battery. While OnePlus 15 has 7,300 mAh, the sixteenth model comes with 9,000 mAh across two 4,500 mAh cells—so roughly 23% more. The manufacturer claims up to 23.8 hours of video playback or 8.1 hours of gaming, and after five years of use the battery should still retain at least 80% of its original capacity.

However, the higher capacity comes at the cost of slower charging, since the wired power dropped from 120 W to 100 W. Going from 1 to 100% takes 52 minutes, whereas the fifteen model needed about 40 minutes. Wireless charging supports 50 W, and the new feature is 27 W reverse charging via cable, so you can top up earbuds or smartwatches. During gaming, you can also enable direct power from the charger, which bypasses the battery—so the phone heats up less.
The main sensor has grown to 200 Mpx
The main camera moved from a 50 MP Sony sensor to a 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HPE sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size and optical stabilization. It’s paired with a 50 MP ultra-wide lens and a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens that offers 3x optical zoom and 6x lossless zoom. Here, the “sixteen” is paradoxically worse, because the predecessor had 3.5x optical zoom. The selfie camera has a 50 MP sensor and autofocus.
The body is water- and dust-resistant according to IP66 , IP68 , IP69 , and IP69K standards, and the phone runs on ColorOS 17. You can choose from three colors: the silver Tomorrow Starlight with a glowing LED field on the back, the orange Martian Red, and the dark Dark Forest.

In Slovakia, you can’t buy the OnePlus 16 in stores. The brand announced in summer that it stops bringing new products to Europe, and the OnePlus 15 was the last model officially sold here. To get the sixteenth, you’ll have to go through Chinese sellers, where you should expect the Chinese version of ColorOS.
