Oppo is preparing to unveil its most advanced smartphone yet, which has the potential to become the world’s best camera phone. The model named Oppo Find X9 Ultra, according to information from renowned leaker Digital Chat Station, will appear on the market at the beginning of next year. And it is already generating huge expectations – especially in photography, where it should set a new standard for the competition.
The best zoom in smartphone history?
Oppo Find X9 Ultra is set to bring a breakthrough camera setup that apparently has no current competition. On the back, there should be a triple sensor system – with the biggest draw being a main 200 MP sensor. It should not be a 1-inch sensor like in some flagships, but it is expected to offer better light capture. It is said that this could be a new Sony LYTIA-901 chip with an extremely wide aperture and large pixels. So we’ll likely see real innovation in image processing even in low light.
In addition to the main sensor, Oppo is also reportedly set to use a second 200 MP sensor – this time intended for mid-range zoom. The trio will be completed by a 50 MP periscope lens with true 10x optical zoom. Such a setup could even beat strong players like Xiaomi or Samsung, which have actually reduced their zoom capabilities in the latest generation.
The ambition to crush the competition in photography
While most brands have backed away from high optical zoom (Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has 5x, Xiaomi 14 Ultra only 5x), Oppo is taking the opposite route. If the presence of 10x optical zoom is confirmed, this could be a very interesting device in its segment. And it is precisely the combination of high resolution, top-tier sensors, and advanced optics that could secure the Find X9 Ultra the title of best camera phone of the year.
Digital Chat Station also claims that Oppo’s software will be significantly improved — so we can probably expect upgraded algorithms developed in collaboration with Hasselblad, similar to previous Find X series models. Oppo has long been one of the leaders in mobile photography, and the Find X9 Ultra should further strengthen that reputation.
Top-tier specs are likely not going to be missing
Although the leaks currently focus mainly on the cameras, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is expected to be overall the most expensive and best-equipped model of the brand for 2025. It is expected to feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a high-quality LTPO OLED display with a high resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, a large battery with extremely fast charging, and a premium ceramic or leather design. Oppo could thus bring a full-fledged rival to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra or Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Expected launch date and availability
Oppo has not officially announced a launch date yet, but according to all indications, the debut will happen in the first months of 2026. It is likely that the Find X9 Ultra will initially be exclusive to the Chinese market, but later it may also appear in a global version – just like the Oppo Find X9 Pro. The question remains whether Oppo will keep support for Google services if the device does go global.
For fans of mobile photography and tech news, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is definitely worth keeping an eye on. It already looks like the photography king of 2025.
