Realme is getting us ready for a new flagship with a 5 nm Snapdragon 875 processor from Qualcomm

The official announcement of the new generation Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm is already almost here.

While Qualcomm itself doesn’t say anything about the new-generation chip, it’s expected that this year too it will push performance boundaries.

Snapdragon 875 is already in development

Even before the actual Snapdragon chip maker, Redmi managed to praise it too. They announced that their new flagship released sometime at the beginning of next year will come with a new processor made using 5 nm technology.

Later, Realme also joined, on behalf of CEO Xu Qi. He, in turn, added a promotional poster to his profile on the Weibo social network.

He also boasted that, besides the Qualcomm flagship chip in the form of Snapdragon 875, the company will bring an entirely new line of smartphones under a currently unknown name. As is typical for Realme, it will most likely be another letter from the alphabet.

Despite the fact that other companies haven’t publicly commented in any way, it’s more than clear that the upcoming flagships from different brands—such as OnePlus, Lenovo, or Asus—will also feature the most powerful processor that will be available on the market at that time.

Information from a recent leak also says that Oppo decided to end its Ace series of smartphones with the final model, namely the Oppo Reno Ace 2.

So the latest Oppo smartphones should be replaced by a new, as yet unannounced series from Realme, which will offer the specs of flagship phones.

The first smartphones with Snapdragon 875 in Q1/2021

The latest processor Snapdragon 875 from Qualcomm should arrive at the same time as every year. The official presentation should take place by the end of this year. After that, we could see the first smartphones with that processor already in the first quarter of 2021.

The processor will offer new and improved Cortex cores: Cortex-X1 and Cortex-A78. The Cortex X1 core is up to 30% more power-efficient than the previous generation in the form of A77, and up to 23% compared to the current A78 core.

The question, however, is by how much the prices of upcoming next-generation flagships will increase.

As we could see, for example with the POCO F2 Pro, the price of the current Snapdragon 865 processor compared to the previous generation quickly reflected in the final smartphone price too.
