Packaging quality and contents
After unpacking the BlitzHome BH-6-CDW dishwasher, we find the device itself in the box, along with the drain hose, a hose with adapters for connecting to the water supply, a 2 L container for topping up the water, and a detailed user manual.
The dishwashing machine is protected by polystyrene inserts, and all components with accessories are stored inside it, where you can access them after opening the front door.
Design and build
The BlitzHome BH-6-CDW features a modern, minimalist design that fits well into various interiors. Its compact dimensions of 47 x 44 x 43 cm make it easy to place on a kitchen counter or in a cabinet. The transparent door lets you monitor the progress of the wash cycle, which is handy for checking how the dishes are doing. Overall, the construction feels solid and high-quality.
The BlitzHome dishwasher comes with two pull-out racks for dishes. The lower one is suitable for pots, plates, bowls, and cups, while the top rack is for cutlery and other flat items. There’s also a bonus basket for washing fruit and vegetables.
As for the spray arms that shoot water onto the dishes, they’re located on both the bottom and the top side and are similar to those in standard dishwashers, meaning they rotate during operation.
The dishwasher’s control buttons are located above the front door and are touch-sensitive with backlighting. The water inlet and drain connection are from the rear.
Above the buttons, there’s also a clear display that shows the remaining time until the program ends, as well as the selected program and other status information.
Installation and control
Installing the dishwasher is easy and doesn’t require professional help. You can connect it directly to the water supply using the included hose with connectors on both sides, or fill it with water manually.
The water tank has a capacity of 5.2 L and can be accessed from the top via an opening lid. After selecting a program, the dishwasher signals if there isn’t enough water. During testing, we chose exactly this method and topped up the water every time using the included measuring container. Since the container holds 2 L, to fill the dishwasher we need 2 and a half container of water.
The drain hose is also equipped with a small suction cup, which we used to attach it to the inside of the kitchen sink, where the dirty water drained out.
The controls are intuitive thanks to the backlit touch buttons on the front side.
Power and wash programs
The dishwasher offers 8 different programs, including a program for baby bottles, self-cleaning, and even washing fruit and vegetables.
| Program | Duration | Water temperature |
|---|---|---|
Standard | 58 minutes | Washing at 55 °C / cold rinse / warm rinse at 68 °C |
Quick | 28 minutes | Washing at 50 °C / cold rinse / warm rinse at 62 °C |
Intensive | 98 minutes | Washing at 55 °C / warm rinse at 55 °C / warm rinse at 75 °C |
ECO | 88 minutes | Washing at 43 °C / cold rinse / warm rinse at 57 °C |
Wash fruit | 19 minutes | Washing at 35 °C / cold rinse / cold rinse |
Baby care | 78 minutes | Washing at 55 °C / warm rinse at 55 °C / warm rinse at 75 °C |
Self-cleaning | 28 minutes | Washing at 45 °C / cold rinse / warm rinse at 57 °C |
Drying |
Each of the programs uses 5.2 L of water, meaning the entire internal tank. When connected directly to the water supply, consumption is higher for the Standard, Intensive, Baby Care, and Self-cleaning programs, specifically 6.8 L. Drying is set to 60 minutes for every program. So we can say the water usage is truly low. It definitely uses less water than a standard full-size dishwasher.
Washing quality
We used the dishwasher in the kitchen, placed on the kitchen counter with the waste drained into the kitchen sink. We kept topping up the water using the container that came with the dishwasher.
First, we tried the quick program, which lasts only 28 minutes. Since it was the first wash, we loaded just a few plates, a bowl, and cutlery into the dishwasher. Everything was only lightly soiled. The dishes came out great—cleaned perfectly.
The dishwasher doesn’t have a classic compartment for cleaning tablets—there’s only a small recess on the inside of the door where we should place such a tablet, or pour in the dedicated powder. It’s not recommended to use products that aren’t meant for dishwashers.
As for the interior space, we noticed that large shallow plates fit in here just like that – with no problem at all. They gently rub against the pull-out cutlery compartment cover. At the same time, they can’t be placed anywhere, since there’s only more vertical space in the middle part of the interior space.
We were able to fit 6 large shallow plates into the dishwasher. Besides those, we also added 3 small plates, 3 bowls, 2 cups, and several cutlery items. Even with such a fully loaded dishwasher and a standard program, the dishes were cleaned well.
We rate the dishwashing quality positively.
Washing fruit and self-cleaning
Among the programs that not every dishwasher has, there’s definitely washing fruit and vegetables—and we tested that too. We put an apple, apricots, and strawberries into the included plastic basket, and they were cleaned beautifully. Kudos for that—especially because this program runs for up to 19 minutes, which, in our view, is unnecessarily long for cleaning fruit or vegetables.
There’s also a self-cleaning program that cleans the dishwasher itself.
Noise level and filters
When running, the dishwasher reaches a noise level of 58 dB. It’s louder than a standard dishwasher. The sound is similar to a washing machine during a wash, with a buzzing sound sometimes added. We definitely wouldn’t run it at night.
Of course, there’s also a filter that catches food leftovers from the dishes. It’s located at the bottom of the interior. This filter is enough to rinse and put back in.
BlitzHome BH-6-CDW: Final Assessment
The BlitzHome BH-6-CDW portable dishwasher will especially delight those who don’t have space for a built-in or large freestanding dishwasher—plus it can also find use in a cabin or other places outside the home.
Fits 6 large plates, a few smaller plates, bowls, or cups. A major advantage is the integrated water tank, which allows you to use the dishwasher even where you don’t have access to a water supply. The drain hose only needs to be led into a sink or drain—no permanent plumbing connection is required.
The disadvantage is, of course, the smaller capacity for dishes and the higher noise level compared to a traditional dishwasher. But the washing quality itself is very good, and this device pleasantly surprised us with how well it does its job.
