Packaging contents & quality
The JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua stick vacuum arrived in a box measuring 74 x 32.5 x 25.5 cm and weighing approximately 8 kg. The vacuum, along with the accessories, is packed in several inner boxes and shaped cardboard inserts. Each component is also protected with a plastic bag.
The packaging looks truly perfect, and it’s clear the manufacturer put effort into ensuring the vacuum and its components are well protected during shipping.
Inside the box you’ll find quite a lot, specifically:
-
the stick vacuum body itself with a handle and a dust collection container
- electric floor nozzle (with a rotating brush)
-
separate mopping head
- electric turbo brush for mattresses or sofas
-
passive attachments: narrow crevice nozzle, dusting brush, and a smaller attachment with extendable bristles
-
flexible hose
-
stand broken down into 4 parts (base with a plastic piece for attaching the tube, the tube itself, upper holder)
-
charger and user manual
Design and build quality
JV9 Pro Aqua has a modern, sleek design in shades of gray. It’s made mostly of hard ABS plastic with a matte finish, which unfortunately doesn’t feel very premium. On the contrary, the first impression after unpacking is kind of “too plastic”.
That said, the build quality looks quite good after a detailed inspection. The main pole with the joint in the middle is made of metal, similar to the pole in the stand.
The main unit includes a dust container with a capacity of 0.6 L, which can be easily removed with a single button that releases the container. Inside, you’ll find a cyclone, and from the top you can access the HEPA filter. There’s also an LED display, which we’ll cover a bit later.
Floor nozzle and rotating mop
The floor nozzle is electric, just like with other stick vacuums. It’s low and contoured for better access under furniture, helped by the joint in the middle of the main pole. Thanks to it, you can easily get under the bed or various cabinets and other furniture.
The rotating brush in the floor nozzle is designed for hard floors, since the whole thing is covered with soft fibres, making it gentle on the floor. For carpets, a brush with firmer bristles is better—it also includes rubber parts. That makes it brush carpets more effectively, but in this case we don’t have such a brush included in the package.
A big advantage of the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua vacuum is the floor nozzle with a pair of rotating mops. They have anti-bacterial treated cloths attached with Velcro, and the cloths are washable. Replacement cloths are not included in the package.
A water tank with a capacity of 0.5L is part of the floor nozzle. The water is dispensed automatically depending on the selected mode. However, water dispensing needs to be enabled with a single button on the top of the mopping nozzle—otherwise, the floor will only be wiped dry.
Power and cleaning/mopping modes
The technical specs list a motor power of 500 W and a claimed suction power of 160 AW. It has four suction modes: Eco, Auto, Turbo, and Max.
In practice, this means:
Eco — energy-saving mode with the longest battery life, suitable for everyday dust cleaning
Auto — adaptive mode in which the vacuum cleaner automatically adjusts its power
Turbo — higher suction power for better carpet cleaning or heavily soiled areas
Max — the highest possible power for a short time
On the body of the vacuum there’s a small information LED display that shows the selected mode and the remaining cleaning time.
After you attach the mopping nozzle, two modes are available: Eco and Normal. As we mentioned, the water starts dispensing only after you press the button on the mopping nozzle—when those two modes become available as well.
In both modes, though, it takes way too long for the mop cloths to get properly wet, so the first minutes in this mode effectively mean dry mopping only. What a shame we don’t have some kind of combined nozzle that could vacuum while mopping.
Vacuuming performance
In practice, the JV9 Pro Aqua delivers solid results: suction power around 160 AW ensures effective removal of dust, small particles, and hair from smooth floors and also from low-pile carpets. We were pleasantly surprised that the vacuum is fairly well muted, and compared with other stick vacuums it seemed a bit quieter.
We tested the vacuuming quality in the usual way on our kitchen floor. We scattered rice and breadcrumbs to simulate crumbs as well as larger dirt.
We turned the vacuum on to maximum power, and it handled the mess very well. You can watch this test in the video below:
Mopping quality
We also didn’t skip the mopping test. This time we spilled water mixed with cocoa and food colouring onto the floor. By morning, we let the liquids dry so that stains would form.
On the next day, we tried to vacuum up these stains at the highest moisture level using the rotating mops. As we expected, the mops first spread the stains across the floor, but after a while the result was quite good. You can also check out the process and results of this test in the video:
Dust emptying and cleaning
As we already mentioned above, the dust container can be emptied very simply. Just press the button on the vacuum body, which unlocks and opens the bottom cover of the dust container.
The dirt should fall out immediately, but that’s not always the case. The dust clings around the cyclone, and after you open the cover only part of the dirt comes out. The rest stays inside and needs to be pulled out by hand, which isn’t ideal.
Controls, handling, and storage
Operation is comfortable—there’s a single button under the display to switch modes, and the other buttons are located on the handle area: one for releasing the dust container and another to start the vacuum cleaner. After pressing the trigger, you don’t need to hold it any longer, but somehow we don’t have anywhere natural to place the index finger, which would naturally go on the trigger. By pressing the button again, the vacuum cleaner turns off.
Once you attach the floor nozzle, the vacuum is ergonomically well-balanced. We didn’t feel like it was overly heavy, but during long vacuuming sessions with passive attachments, for example overhead, you should expect a bigger load. Still, that’s common for all such vacuums.
The package also includes a stand for the vacuum, but it doesn’t work as an automatic charging station once you store it in the stand. The charging cable plugs directly into the battery. However, the whole stand feels a bit unstable and light. It lacks some extra weight at the bottom base so that the vacuum wouldn’t tip the stand over. Because of that, you can’t simply click the vacuum into the stand with one hand — you always need to hold it with the other. We see this as a significant drawback.
Runtime and charging
Official data states that the battery consists of 7 × 2500 mAh cells with a capacity of about 63 Wh. The runtime by mode with the electric floor nozzle is as follows:
Eco: 65 minutes
Turbo: 21 minutes
Max: 10 minutes
Auto: 39 minutes
Charging takes approximately 4–5 hours. These figures are quite precise, and in real use we measured almost the same values while vacuuming.
Final verdict
The JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua is a well thought-out 2v1 stick vacuum with strong suction power, sensible battery runtime, and a practical mopping module. It handles dirt really well, isn’t overly loud, and comes with a range of attachments, including a rotating mop with its own water tank.
The mop is a huge advantage, even though personally we would have liked it to vacuum at the same time as mopping. As a downside, we see the stand, which is quite unstable and doesn’t have built-in charging. After about three weeks of almost daily use, the wheels on the floor nozzle also started to squeak slightly.
If we convinced you to buy this model, you can get it via Geekbuying, where there’s also a 2-year warranty.
