Oppo Find X9 Ultra is, according to MKBHD, a showcase of the “peak smartphone” era

Marques explains in the video that with traditional smartphones, we’ve reached a stage where four out of five of the main pillars are basically solved. Displays are extremely bright in sunlight, yet power-efficient in the dark, performance is—often—unnecessarily high for most people, and a water- and dust-resistant build no longer feels like a premium bonus, but rather the expected standard.

Oppo Find X9 Ultra fits that definition extremely well. It features a 6,8-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a massive 7500 mAh battery, and a premium body with a huge photo module. MKBHD even suggests that, when you look at these specs, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra somehow feels less “ultra”—which is a pretty strong statement for Oppo.

A battery that changes the rules of the game

One of the biggest advantages of the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is the battery. The 7500 mAh capacity is a value we used to expect only from tablets or rugged phones just a few years ago. Thanks to modern silicon-carbon battery cells, manufacturers have reached the point where a premium smartphone can handle two days of normal use without any stress.

Marques says that today’s best Chinese flagships can manage 7 to 8 hours of always-on display time per day and still don’t have to rush to the charger immediately in the evening. On top of that, you get fast wired and wireless charging, so the Oppo Find X9 Ultra feels like a phone where you stop obsessing over battery percentages every few hours.

Cameras are the main reason this phone gets attention

The biggest part of MKBHD’s review is dedicated to the cameras. On the back, Oppo Find X9 Ultra has up to five sensors, and the entire phone design is built around a large circular camera module. It’s not just marketing numbers, either—Oppo used an extremely ambitious combination of sensors, optical stabilization, and computational photography.

The main camera has 200 MP resolution, and according to the video, it’s the biggest 200 MP smartphone sensor used so far. The next 200 MP sensor acts as a 3-times telephoto lens, and it’s supposed to be the physically largest telephoto sensor in a mobile phone. Then there’s a 50 MP periscope with 10-times zoom, a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, and a special True Color sensor for more accurate colors and better white balance.

Hasselblad and computational photography make a huge difference

For this model, Oppo continues its collaboration with Hasselblad. MKBHD particularly praises that the resulting photos don’t look overly oversaturated or artificial. He says the processing is tasteful and rather minimalist, even though the phone sometimes needs 2 to 3 seconds to fully process the shots in the background.

This is exactly where modern smartphones beat traditional cameras—right in the comfort of having them with you. Oppo Find X9 Ultra tries to do everything so you don’t end up taking a bad or blurry photo. Marques compares it to a basketball hoop that moves on its own so you always make the shot. For a regular person, that’s a huge advantage.

A smartphone won’t replace a professional camera, but for most people it’s enough

MKBHD also fairly reminds you that even this brutal camera phone can’t completely fool physics. Professional cameras have larger sensors, bigger optics, and still offer a different type of output. So the Oppo Find X9 Ultra isn’t a 1:1 replacement for a medium-format camera—but it doesn’t have to be.

The point is elsewhere. For most users, a smartphone like this is more than enough for traveling, family photos, social media, video creation, and even more serious content. Another interesting trend is accessories. Oppo, together with Hasselblad, offers special cases, battery grips with a dual-position trigger, and add-on lenses. Thanks to them, you can reach—for example—up to 400 mm zoom, which is honestly a pretty insane number for a smartphone.

Marques compares it to an iPad, which manufacturers are trying to turn into a laptop. For 90 to 95 % of things, it works great, and for a large part of users, it’s completely enough. It’s not a professional tool in the strict sense, but it’s a device you always have with you—and it can handle an incredibly wide range of tasks.
