XPeng G9L gets Paris European pricing: 430 kW and 450 km in 9 minutes

The Paris Motor Show, running from October 12 to 18, will be for the Chinese XPeng the biggest European event in its history. The automaker will globally present its large SUV G9L, open orders right there with European pricing, and together with Tesla will be the only brand to offer visitors rides with autonomous driving.

The XPeng G9L will get European prices directly at the show

According to a press release published by the CleanTechnica website, the G9L will be the main draw of the stand, and its world premiere takes place on Monday, October 12. On that day, XPeng will open European orders, publish prices, and the G9L will also become the brand’s fourth model to be manufactured directly in Europe at the same time.

In China, XPeng unveiled the G9L as early as August. According to the portal CarNewsChina, it’s a large five-seat SUV with a length of 5,120 mm and a wheelbase of 3,100 mm, meaning it’s 198 mm longer than a BMW X5. Two electric motors deliver a total output of 430 kW, and thanks to its 800 V platform the car charges enough energy for 450 km of driving in nine minutes. In the Chinese market it costs about 300,000 yuan, but how much it will cost in Europe we don’t know yet.

Interior with a fridge and zero-gravity seats

The G9L is aimed mainly at families who want plenty of space, because the cabin has five comfortable seats and the trunk holds up to 1 152 liters. The front seats have pressure sensors and adjustable air cushions that adapt to your body. In addition to heating, ventilation, and massage, there’s also a zero-gravity mode in which the seat folds down like a lounger.

The driver has an AR-HUD in front of them that projects data in front of the car, and passengers in the back get their own display with a diagonal of 21,4 inches. Between the rear seats there’s a console with a folding table, a wireless charger, and a 12,5-liter fridge that can cool and heat.

Autonomous driving together with Tesla

Besides the premiere, XPeng wants to show in Paris how far it is with autonomous driving. In the official Autonomous Lab program, visitors will ride in the L03 SUV coupe with the NGP system—where the car drives itself along a chosen route under the supervision of the driver. Only Tesla will offer similar rides from automakers. This is the first time XPeng will publicly demonstrate NGP on a large scale outside China, while the system for European roads and regulations is being tuned by the R&D center in Munich.

A stand space of over 1,000 m² in Hall 6 will also serve as an exhibition of what XPeng calls physical artificial intelligence. Alongside the G9L, L03, P7+, G6, G9 and X9 cars, there will also be the humanoid robot IRON, whose mass-production line we described in the article about XPeng’s new production line, and the brand will also bring flying cars.

XPeng is growing in Europe and is also sold here

The automaker has delivered more than 100 000 vehicles outside China so far, including more than 60 000 in Europe and over 6 000 in France, where it has been selling for two years. In the second quarter, its overseas deliveries first exceeded 20 000 units, which is 81 % more year over year.

In Slovakia, XPeng is officially sold through Hedin Automotive in Bratislava and Košice, and according to the SITA agency, the G6 started at €45,990 when it entered the market. G9L will therefore likely appear at Slovak dealerships as well, but XPeng has not officially confirmed this for our market yet.
