Packaging contents & quality

The KuKirin G3 Pro electric scooter was delivered to us by a courier in a box with dimensions 1310 x 300 x 615 mm and a weight of 45 kg. As is the case with Kugoo brand scooters, the G3 Pro also arrived in a double package, meaning in two boxes, which improves protection during shipping.

Inside, the scooter is packed in a folded position with the handlebars disassembled. It’s protected by polystyrene braces, but unfortunately they crumble again, so the polystyrene was scattered all over the scooter.

Besides the scooter, you’ll also find a manual, a set of manufacturer stickers, mounting tools, a pair of chargers, and small bonuses including a pump and a spare inner tube.

Anything extra is a nice bonus, but we’re most pleased with the pair of chargers, which significantly speeds up charging.

Assembling the scooter is fairly quick

Like most scooters, the KuKirin G3 Pro is shipped in the box folded down with the handlebars removed. Assembly is therefore just attaching the handlebars to the stem.

For this, you use four screws, but they aren’t very easy to access due to the large display in the middle. Its holder gets in the way, so we first had to loosen the screws on the display bracket, slightly rotate it, and only then tighten the handlebars.

However, it’s the only component we needed to attach before the first ride.

Build quality and design

The KuKirin G3 Pro is among the more premium models from the Kugoo brand, so you can look forward to solid build quality. The frame is made of an aluminum alloy, the scooter feels sturdy, and there’s no squeaking or unnecessary play anywhere.

And what about the design? We think it’s exceptionally well done. The typical orange color combined with the black frame really suits it. This is definitely one of the best-looking scooters in this category.

You’ll also like a few very interesting solutions we’ll cover in the following chapters. At first glance, it looks like there’s plenty to look forward to in this case.

Handlebars with a metal controller

Right after taking it out of the box, we noticed several well-crafted details on the handlebar. What impressed us most was the module with control buttons—here, it’s fully made of metal. And that’s not all: the horn and light buttons are also metal.

There are also buttons here for turning the e-scooter on/off, switching between riding modes with one or two motors, and controlling the turn signals. These aren’t metal anymore but plastic with a rubberized finish; still, we really appreciate this high-quality button module.

The handlebars are 65 cm wide, and in the middle you’ll find a fairly large LCD display. In front of it, there’s also a key lock placed in an unusual way, unlike other scooters where it’s often a low-quality plastic piece on the handlebars.

On the left side, you’ll find the brake lever for the rear brake, while on the right side there’s the front brake lever together with the thumb throttle.

Display, power and speed modes

The mentioned central display shows several pieces of information. The main highlight is the current speed reading, but you’ll finally also find the current battery voltage—along with a symbol indicating its capacity.

Next, the display also offers several status details such as the current mode, the light status, and the total and current distance traveled. These two distance values automatically switch every 3 seconds.

The KuKirin G3 Pro will please you with a pair of motors, each with a power of 1200 W. Together, that gives us a total power of 2400 W, which is definitely not low. There are three speed modes available, as well as single-motor or dual-motor drive.

With one-motor riding mode, the trio of modes delivers a maximum speed of 25, 45, and 55 km/h, while with both motors driving, it’s 25, 45, and 65 km/h.

With its performance, the scooter lands more in the mid-range category, as we can find many stronger scooters on the market. However, the maximum speed of 65 km/h is still very good.

Acceleration is best from the start, when pulling away, when it can even spin the front wheel. Later, however, it drops off and reaches top speed relatively more slowly than we expected. Acceleration from 30 km/h is already quite weak, even if we give it full throttle.

On the other hand, the throttle is set up in a way that makes the ride wonderfully smooth and seamless.

High comfort thanks to suspension

The KuKirin G3 Pro has front and rear suspension, handled by a pair of spring shocks together with an effective but also functional wheel mounting. The suspension feels quite soft at first touch, but it absorbs bumps excellently.

Riding this e-scooter is truly very comfortable. As we already mentioned, nothing creaks or rattles, and the scooter is impressively quiet.

Wheels and brakes

The Kugoo Kirin model features 10-inch wheels with tire size 80/65 – 6 and a rugged tread pattern. As we mentioned at the beginning, the manufacturer includes an extra inner tube.

The XOD XD-H800 hydraulic disc brakes will also please you, and they work great. Thanks to the oil fill, the brake levers squeeze comfortably, but most importantly, the braking performance is excellent.

Removable battery

Under the chassis, you'll find a 52 V / 23.5 Ah battery, but it's not just any ordinary one. Unfortunately, it uses Chinese cells, not branded ones, but unlike most e-scooters, this battery has one great advantage.

It’s removable. After opening the top cover—which, by the way, can also be secured with a numeric lock—you can simply take the battery out. All you need to do is disconnect the cable going to the battery, and then you can remove and charge it separately using the handle—without needing the scooter.

This is perhaps one of the biggest advantages of this e-scooter, and we personally really like having this option.

Range on a single charge

As for range, the manufacturer states a maximum range of 80 km at medium speed. Of course, we verified the real-world range with our usage style. We charged the e-scooter to 100 % and set off on a test ride with activity tracking turned on in the Strava app on a smartphone.

We rode in Košice and the surrounding area with a 75 kg rider. For the first 15 km, we rode at full speed, then we slowed down for a few kilometers as we were going through the city, but later we sped up again and tried to get the most out of the e-scooter throughout the whole ride. We really enjoyed the ride and didn’t go easy on the e-scooter. We also tackled several hills.

In total, we covered 35.78 km and ended the ride with a completely dead battery. The last percentage points disappear quickly, so we recommend keeping an eye on it during one of your first rides, so the faster voltage drop at the end doesn’t catch you off guard and leave you stranded with a dead e-scooter.

That’s not much; we expected a slightly better range, but on the other hand, we really didn’t hold back on the e-scooter and often rode at top speed. You can therefore safely take this range as a kind of minimum. According to various reviews online, several users have managed a significantly higher range. However, everything depends on riding style, terrain, and the rider’s weight.

Lighting

The standard white front light is fairly powerful, but it shines more or less in a narrow beam, so we personally miss a wider spread here. The rear red light is above the rear fender and is clearly visible. We have no complaints about it.

The e-scooter is also equipped with turn signals, but they’re handled very poorly. The turn signals are red, not orange, and the manufacturer placed them on the sides of the chassis, so they’re almost impossible to see.

Folding mechanism

The KuKirin G3 Pro can also be easily folded and carried, or stored in this state. The folding mechanism consists of a large circular handle, which you just need to unscrew to release the metal latch, after which you can fold the e-scooter.

Under the display, you'll find a smaller hook that snaps into the holder above the rear fender. As we mentioned in the specs table, the e-scooter weighs 39.6 kg, so carrying it in any state is not exactly easy.

KuKirin G3 Pro: Final verdict

The KuKirin G3 Pro electric e-scooter impressed us right after unboxing. It stands out especially for its build quality, attractive design, and removable battery, which you don’t often see.

The e-scooter doesn’t rattle while riding, nothing creaks, and the whole construction is at a high level. You’ll also like the dual motor setup with a total output of 2400 W, the high riding comfort thanks to the good suspension, and the effective hydraulic disc brakes.

But quality comes at a price, so the KuKirin G3 Pro is not among the cheapest models. It’s not easy to find negatives, but if you use it to the fullest at maximum power, expect a range of only around 35 km. In this respect, the e-scooter doesn’t surprise in any way compared with similar models.
