If you build a battery pack yourself for an e-bike, e-scooter, or tools, you know that nickel strips don’t get soldered onto 18650 cells—you spot weld them instead. AWithZ UK1 is a small spot welder with a built-in battery that doesn’t need a wall outlet or a large capacitor discharge unit, weighs about 300 grams, and charges via USB-C like a phone.

What customers say about AWithZ UK1
On Banggood, the welder has an average rating of 4.87 out of 5 from fifteen reviews, mostly from buyers in France, but also from Germany, Hungary, or Belgium. The most detailed description comes from a customer in Germany who received it on Christmas Eve and assembled his first battery pack right away. According to him, the pack looks just as good as factory-made, the welder started without any problems, and the correct output just needed a short test run.
However, the same customer also mentions two weak points. The pedal connector is at the front, and because the body is made of lightweight plastic, it shifts whenever the cables move—so you need to weigh it down or hold it in place. Buyers from France also praise the fact that it can weld thicker nickel strips and is suitable for thin sheets in model building. Another customer mainly appreciates the power adjustment, and others briefly write that it works reliably and is easy to operate.
Dual pulse and welding the strip to 0,3 mm
The manufacturer lists a peak output of 9,000 W and the welder works with a dual pulse: the first short discharge cleans the surface, and the second pulse creates the actual weld. According to the manufacturer’s table, it welds nickel-plated steel strip up to 0.3 mm, clean nickel up to 0.15 mm, iron and steel sheet up to 0.25 mm, and copper up to 0.1 mm.
Inside there are two lithium cells, so according to the manufacturer the welder delivers more energy and lasts longer than if it had just one. For standard packs made of cells 18650 or 21700 with strips up to 0,1 to 0,2 mm, the output should be sufficient with some headroom. However, for thick copper interconnects in high-performance batteries, it’s better to weld them on a workbench station that UK1 can’t replace.
Automatic mode or foot pedal
The welder has two modes. In automatic mode, you just place both pens on the strip and the weld starts automatically after a short delay, which speeds up work when you have a long row of cells. Manual mode is started with the foot pedal included in the package and is ideal for hard-to-reach spots where you want each weld under control.
You control the power with the rotary knob in 100 steps, and the colorful display shows the selected mode, power level, pulse length, and the number of welds in a row. The package includes two welding pens WP110 with red cables, spare tips, two meters of nickel strip, and sandpaper for cleaning the tips.
Battery, USB-C, and 300 grams
The body measures 100.5 × 158 × 48 mm and at about 300 grams it fits in your palm as well as in a tool case. It charges via a USB-C adapter 5 V / 2 A, so you can use a regular phone charger and use the welder in a garage or at a meetup without a power outlet.
The manufacturer promises protection against overheating, overload, and short circuits, and the welder turns itself off after five minutes of inactivity. If you build or repair only a few batteries a year, UK1 should be enough, but for serial production of packs it’s worth looking for a more powerful station.
