What is an ALR screen and why you need it for a projector
A white wall reflects light to all sides equally — including light from a window or a lamp. The result is a washed-out image with gray instead of black, so you have to pull down the blinds every time you watch a movie. ALR (Ambient Light Rejecting) screens work differently: their surface creates a microscopic black grid that diverts incoming light from above away from you, while projector light from below can reach the viewer.
