Quick summary

  • Deepal S07 making its debut in Europe for the first time as a plug-in hybrid
  • On electric power 100 km, total range around 1 000 km
  • Output 254 k, 0–100 km/h in 7.9 s
  • In Greece from 36 000 €

The Chinese automaker Changan previously sold in Europe the SUV Deepal S07 only as a pure electric vehicle, but at the Auto Athina 2026 motor show in Athens it also revealed a version with a gasoline engine. The plug-in hybrid Deepal S07 Ultra PHEV can run on electricity for up to 100 km; with a full tank it handles around 1 000 km, and in Greece it costs from 36 000 €.

Gasoline engine and battery for 100 km

As reported by the portal CarNewsChina, under the hood there’s a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that, together with the electric motor, delivers 190 kW of power, i.e. 254 hp. The energy for the electric motor is stored in an LFP battery with a capacity of around 18.4 kWh—on which the car can drive up to 100 km—so you’ll handle most everyday commuting without a drop of fuel.

You can charge the battery even on a fast charger, but only with power up to 55 kW, which is common for plug-in hybrids. It accelerates to 100 in 7,9 seconds and the maximum speed is 185 km/h. Changan states emissions of 49 g CO₂, which means companies in Greece don’t pay tax for this car, and with a full tank and a charged battery, the car can cover about 1 000 km.

Compared to the electric version, the hybrid differs mainly with its own bumpers and blackened, partially recessed door handles; otherwise the design is the same. In the manufacturer’s photos, we currently see the electric Deepal S07, since the official images of Changan’s plug-in hybrid haven’t been released yet.

Dimensions like a BMW X3

Deepal S07 measures 4 750 mm in length, 1 930 mm in width, and 1 625 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2 900 mm. In length it’s only 5 mm shorter than the current BMW X3. The interior was designed at Chang’an’s design center in Turin, and it’s dominated by a rotatable touchscreen with a 15,6-inch diagonal that can be turned toward the driver as well as the passenger.

In photos of the electric version you can see seats in orange leather, a panoramic roof, and a center console with a wireless charging pad for your phone. What equipment the Greek hybrid versions will get, Changan has not detailed yet.

Price in Greece from 36 000 €

The base version of the Deepal S07 Ultra PHEV costs 36 000 € in Greece, while the higher trim is 39 000 €. If you order the car directly at the show, you’ll get a discount of 1 000 €. According to the portal Electrive, Changan wants to offer plug-in hybrids mainly in the markets of Southern Europe, so Athens was a logical choice for the debut of the S07 PHEV.

In Slovakia, Changan doesn’t have an official representation, and according to its European website you can buy it closest in Poland or Slovenia. Whether the hybrid Deepal S07 will also come to us is unclear.
