- Charging from the Flash Charging network: full battery in 9 minutes.
Denza’s luxury brand from BYD has just launched the sale of a cheaper version of its electric fastback Z9 GT in China. The car is comparable in size to the Porsche Panamera, and in recent months it has built a really strong position in the Chinese market. The new version, however, doesn’t cut performance or top-class range—it only trims things that most owners won’t even notice in everyday use.
Same performance, 6000 dollars lower price
According to CarNewsChina, the new Z9 GT e3 Flash Charge version starts at 329,800 yuan, i.e. roughly $49,200. That’s about 40,000 yuan (approximately $6,000) less than the previous top e3 Performance trim. The output of 850 kW (1140 hp) remains completely unchanged.
The difference is only in the details: while the more expensive Performance version has carbon-ceramic brake rotors, the cheaper e3 Flash Charge gets conventional cast-iron ventilated rotors. Some parts of the interior equipment are simplified too. The DiPilot 5.0 driver-assistance systems, including navigation for both highways and the city, as well as automatic parking, remain unchanged. At this price, Denza moves into the same segment as the dual-motor Zeekr 001 AWD, which—however—offers 270 kW (362 hp) less.

The car keeps the same length of 5 195 mm and a wheelbase of 3 125 mm, the fastback/shooting brake body type, and the full lineup of eight colors that Denza is bringing to the market.
Acceleration in 2,8 seconds plus steerable rear wheels
The e3 drivetrain combines a 230 kW front motor with a pair of 310 kW rear permanent-magnet motors; total torque is 1,210 N·m. Denza claims 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 2.8 seconds, a figure that until recently was reserved only for sports cars at far higher prices.

The package also includes rear-wheel steering, which gives the Z9 GT a relatively small turning radius of 4,62 meters despite its size, letting it rotate almost in place or park without a driver. Intelligent air suspension DiSus-A takes care of comfort and stability at high speeds.
Range of 860 km and a charger that fits your lunch
The car uses a Blade Battery, 2nd generation from BYD, with a range of up to 860 km by the Chinese CLTC cycle (600 km by the stricter European WLTP). When connected to the dedicated Flash Charging network, which already had over 10-thousand stations in China by the end of August, the car can charge a significant part of the battery in 5 minutes and fill it up in 9 minutes (3 minutes longer in extreme freezing conditions). It’s faster than a typical refuel plus paying at a regular pump.
The interior features a sport-tuned cabin with a digital driver display, a large central screen, and leather with diamond quilting. You’d expect this kind of equipment more in a luxury coupe than in a practical family fastback.
In Europe, it’s been on sale since April: and it costs three times as much
Denza Z9 GT isn’t just a Chinese affair. The brand, together with the MPV D9, was officially unveiled to the European audience on April 8, 2026, at the Paris Opera, and according to CarNewsChina, you can order it via Denza’s official websites in seven European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
And here comes the most interesting number in the whole story. The official Chinese press release talked about a pre-sale price of around €115k, while French media later quoted an entry price of €101k. The stated figures differ depending on the market and the exact configuration. Either way: while the base Z9 GT in China starts at 269,800 yuan (about $39,100), in Europe you’ll pay roughly three times as much. The difference comes from customs duties, shipping, homologation, warranty and the sales network’s margin.
Denza, however, doesn’t plan to slow down its expansion. By the end of 2026, it wants to operate in more than 30 European countries and open more than 150 dealerships. BYD also promises 6000 Flash Charging stations worldwide, including 3000 directly in Europe. Without them, nine-minute charging would remain just a catalog number. So far, though, it hasn’t been confirmed whether this new, cheaper three-motor version will also make it to Europe; the current European lineup corresponds more to the more expensive Chinese configurations.

For comparison: fastback and wagon EVs in this class are, in Slovakia, as rare as hen’s teeth, and even German competitors with similar power are still priced even higher. A hundred thousand euros might not be a sum for the average buyer, but for what the Z9 GT offers (1140 hp, steerable rear wheels, and a full charge in nine minutes), it remains an aggressive deal in the European context. And the Chinese price tag also shows how much of that European total is actually just the car itself.
