The new €3 customs duty on shipments up to €150 has been one of the most discussed topics in shopping from China since July 2026. Many of our readers have asked us whether this changes the way you buy smartphones and electronics from GShopper. The good news is that at GShopper, everything is still working just like before. The seller has confirmed directly to us that the customer should not pay any additional fees and that all costs associated with delivery are handled on their side.
GShopper handles the fees for the customer
You’ll mainly find exclusive Chinese smartphones, watches, as well as tablets and other tech products from the trusted seller GShopper. Warehouse availability depends on the specific offer, most often it’s Hong Kong, while delivery is carried out in a way where the seller states that you don’t pay anything extra on receipt. The seller also covers the segment of electric bikes and e-scooters to Europe.
So what actually changed since 1. July 2026?
The EU introduced a temporary flat-rate customs duty of 3€ for low-value shipments from countries outside the EU worth up to 150€. According to official information from the Council of the EU, this is fixed customs duty for small shipments that were previously commonly exempt from customs duty. The European Commission also explains that this measure should apply until 1. July 2028, when further changes in the customs system are expected.
What matters is that it doesn’t automatically apply to every single purchase from China in the same way. Customs duty 3€ applies to shipments valued up to 150€ and is calculated based on the type of goods in the shipment. If the parcel contains multiple identical products, it may be classified under a single customs type. If there are different products in the package, the total may be multiplied according to tariff classification. The European Commission gives an example where five T-shirts means 3€, but a T-shirt together with a watch would be 6€.
What about more expensive phones above 150€?
For higher-value products above 150€, the classic customs duty rates should theoretically apply as they did before. So, smartphones don’t fall into the same category as cheap shipments up to 150€, where the new flat-rate customs duty of 3€ was introduced. In practice, however, GShopper created an interesting situation that’s good to know about.
According to our information, shippers also charge 3€ for each smartphone even for mobile phones from GShopper. The difference is that this charge is not paid by the customer. GShopper confirmed to us that it covers all these costs on its side, and the customer pays nothing extra when ordering or when receiving the package.
GShopper has fine-tuned shipping from Hong Kong
Another big advantage of GShopper is the well-tuned logistics from Hong Kong. For current smartphone orders, the seller uses a delivery method where you don’t pay any additional fees. Based on past experience and customer feedback, delivery is roughly around 15 working days from dispatch, which is a very solid result for products from HK.
The most important part, though, is that the first orders after the new customs rules were introduced have already arrived without extra charges. Customers didn’t pay anything additional either when ordering or when receiving the package. GShopper confirmed to us that even if carriers charge 3€ for each smartphone, this cost goes to the seller, not to the customer.
Current best-selling products from GShopper
Among the most in-demand products on GShopper right now are mainly OnePlus and OPPO smartphones. There’s a lot of interest in OnePlus 15, which GShopper sells with a preinstalled global version of OxygenOS. That means you get a phone ready to use in Europe, including Google services, Slovak, the Play Store, and standard apps.
One of the current top sellers is also OPPO Find X9 Ultra, aimed at fans of top-tier camera phones. Popular choices on the list also include OnePlus Watch 4 and OnePlus Nord 6—products that make sense for users looking for a great price-to-performance-to-specs ratio outside of standard European distribution.
Smartphone prices could go up soon
When buying more expensive smartphones from China, though, you don’t need to wait too long. GShopper informed us that prices of some OnePlus 15 variants have already gone up, and the main reason isn’t taxes or customs duty, but rising memory prices. The 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage version should stay in the promo price for now, but availability will be limited to only about 50 units. Once this batch sells out, the price may rise again.
The white version (16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage) is similar—you have only a few units left without any price increase. Other variants, according to the seller’s information, have already become more expensive. So if you’re planning to buy a OnePlus 15 or another powerful smartphone from GShopper, it currently makes sense not to wait too long. With limited availability of memory chips and rising purchase prices from manufacturers, a great price can change very quickly.
The first orders have already arrived with no extra charges
The most important thing is real-world practice. We already have initial feedback that phones ordered via GShopper were delivered to customers with no additional payments either at purchase or when receiving the shipment. That means the currently chosen logistics route works exactly as the seller claims. Buyers pay the price in the order and don’t have to deal with customs duty, VAT, or any other customs fees from the courier.
Of course, for every international purchase, it still applies that you should check the specific terms for the product. However, GShopper is one of the sellers we’ve been monitoring long-term, and we see they try to make delivery as simple as possible for customers. With more expensive electronics like OnePlus, OPPO, Vivo, or other Chinese models, the final price without surprises is extremely important.
On top of that, GShopper offers a great customer-friendly service – payment by bank transfer. You can send money to a EUR or USD account and get a 4.5% discount (payment gateway fee), which makes for a really nice saving on more expensive phones!
What does that mean for the average customer?
If you’re buying cheap products up to 150€ from regular Chinese platforms, the new 3€ customs duty may slightly make the purchase more expensive. For mixed parcels with multiple types of products, it can be even more than 3€. With GShopper, however, the situation is specific because the seller declares coverage of the fees on its side, and the first real phone deliveries confirm that.
For our readers, it’s simple: when we list a price on a GShopper offer without any extra charges, we base it on the currently confirmed seller settings and on real customer deliveries. The flat-rate customs duty of 3 € is an important change for cheap shipments to 150 €, but for more expensive phones from GShopper it’s not a fee that the customer should automatically pay upon receiving the package.
