Chinese company Huawei has officially launched its new Huawei Watch D on the market today. They have several unique features. These are their first smartwatches with blood pressure measurement. They also bring a square design made from pretty tough aluminum. They will have plenty to impress.
Square design with high resolution
Square smartwatches named Huawei Watch D offer a 1.64″ HD display with 326 ppi on the front—this is the resolution found in Retina displays. The body is made of hardened aluminum, so it will be quite resistant to potential scratches.
It also includes IP68 certification for improved water protection. These are the very first watches in the world with support for blood pressure measurement and this kind of certification. On the sides, we can also spot two physical buttons labeled Home and Health.
Extremely accurate blood pressure measurement
As we mentioned, their most interesting function will definitely be blood pressure measurement. Inside the watch there’s a built-in micropump with a size equal to a tiny coin and a compression capability of 40 kPa. This enables precise blood pressure readings from 40 mmHg up to 230 mmHg.
Blood pressure measurement is also complemented by heart-rate monitoring via a 8-channel high-sensitivity optical sensor. They support up to 70 different sports.
Blood pressure measurement is paired with EKG measurement, which basically checks proper heart activity. Huawei claims the battery will last for daily 6 blood pressure measurements together with 5 EKG measurements for up to 7 days. Charging will be convenient thanks to wireless charging.
When it comes to health, Huawei Watch D also offer professional medical services related to nutrition, sleep, and exercise. Then you can share your health data directly with doctors to set up treatment more efficiently, or similar. For now, this service will only be available in China for the price of 599 yuan, which is about 83 € / $94.
Price and sales start
Smartwatches were unveiled in mainland China in the colors “Classic Black” and “Elegant Titanium”, and their price was set at 2988 yuan, which is about 414 € / $469. They will go on sale starting December 25th. We don’t know anything yet about the global version.
