The Lenovo Legion Duel Phone 2 breaks into three pieces in the durability test

The new gaming smartphone Lenovo Legion Duel Phone 2 has also passed a durability test. However, its unconventional design couldn’t withstand it and broke—into three pieces. This is the video that captures the entire testing process.

Lenovo Legion Duel Phone 2: Didn’t survive the durability test

The Chinese company Lenovo has launched a new gaming smartphone Lenovo Legion Duel Phone 2. It’s the successor to last year’s Legion smartphone—the first gaming model from this brand. And even the second generation is primarily aimed at gamers, which is also reflected in the design. The phone therefore looks more like a portable gaming console than a traditional smartphone.

But is this device actually durable? A well-known YouTuber, JerryRigEverything, took a look by running several tests right away. Scratch testing revealed the presence of protective glass and a metal frame. With these features, we didn’t notice any surprises.

However, the burn test wasn’t successful. The integrated AMOLED display lasted exactly 33 seconds; then a spot appeared on the screen that won’t go away, meaning the panel is permanently damaged.

The final test is a bend test where pressure is applied from the back and front. As we can see in the attached video, even slight pressure caused permanent display damage and a cracked frame across the entire device. Despite the metal frame, the device body couldn’t handle it.

But the phone didn’t crack in the metal part—it cracked in the plastic section, specifically where the antennas are located. These areas are usually reinforced, but this time, thanks to the unique two-battery design, they gave way.

Pressure on the other side caused another crack, so the construction split at the location of the second antenna into three pieces. The manufacturer could reinforce these parts further, but the smartphone is already officially on sale in its domestic Chinese market.

The new smartphone’s durability, especially under induced pressure, isn’t good. A potential user could press the smartphone, for example, in their back pocket—which could have fatal consequences. However, in standard use, the risk probably won’t be there.
