  • turn lights on the edges of the handlebars

The Eleglide brand is no newcomer in the electric bike and e-scooter segment anymore. We’ve tested the electric bike Eleglide M1 Plus and also the electric e-scooter Eleglide D1. This time, we had the chance to try a new electric city e-scooter, Eleglide Coozy.

In this review, we’ll take a closer look at ride comfort and the quality of the front suspension, measure the real range on a single charge, and share our overall impression of this new model.

Packaging contents & quality

The Eleglide Coozy electric e-scooter was delivered to us by a DPD courier in a box measuring 1170 x 230 x 610 mm and weighing 22.7 kg. The package was shipped from the Polish warehouse and the box showed several smaller damages.

Thankfully, the manufacturer used a so-called double packaging, so the second box protected the scooter well against damage. The cracks remained on the outer box and we received the scooter completely undamaged.

Inside the box, it’s stored in a folded state with the handlebars disassembled. It’s also protected with a few foam supports, and besides the scooter itself, you’ll find screws, an Allen key, a charger, and a manual in the package.

Assembling the e-scooter

As we already mentioned in the previous chapter, the scooter comes in the box folded without the handlebars, which need to be mounted onto the main steering stem. For this purpose, the box includes screws along with the Allen key.

To attach the handlebars to the scooter’s main stem, you need four screws. The manufacturer also includes four additional spare screws in the box in case you lose any.

Assembly is therefore very simple and quick. It doesn’t take more than a couple of minutes, and besides the handlebars, we didn’t have to do anything else. The scooter also features Bluetooth connectivity, but it doesn’t require any activation before the first use.

Build quality and design

The electric e-scooter from the Eleglide brand is made of an aluminum alloy. Build quality is good—the individual components fit together perfectly, with no creaking and no play in the steering. Our only complaint is about the charging port cover, which doesn’t hold as securely as it should.

As for the design, it’s pretty much standard and similar to most city electric e-scooters. The only special feature is probably the foot platform, which transitions smoothly upward toward the joint of the folding mechanism. This space is rubberized the same way as the foot platform.

Handlebars with a display

The Eleglide Coozy e-scooter handlebars have a width of 536 mm and are approximately 88 cm above the ground. The manufacturer’s recommended rider height should be between 120 and 200 cm. We have roughly 185 cm, and the handlebar height is ideal for us.

The rubberized grips feel great in your hands, and you’ll also appreciate the well-readable, slightly tilted display located in a triangular element in the center of the handlebars. Its tilt ensures good visibility while riding. It shows the current speed, riding mode, and several symbols such as Bluetooth or the lights being on. The battery status indicator is purely graphical and consists of four sections.

On the right side, you’ll find the standard thumb throttle lever, while on the left side there’s a brake lever and a bell. The bell is rather weak, and pedestrians who got in our way on cycle paths often didn’t hear it.

Directional lights

Since the city e-scooter market has plenty of models, some manufacturers try to stand out with something non-standard compared to the competition. On the Coozy model, you’ll find interesting turn signals integrated into both ends of the handlebars. They’re controlled using a switch on the left side of the handlebars.

The turn signals blink orange, just as they should in all cases, but on a sunny day they’re easy to overlook thanks to their placement. We definitely wouldn’t rely on drivers noticing these indicators. However, their visibility is clearly better in the evening, in the dark.

The rear red light is excellent. It’s large enough, and when you brake it increases intensity and also flashes, so it’s perfectly visible. The front white light is a bit worse—it doesn’t have the best beam spread or reach. On top of that, its angle isn’t adjustable.

Front suspension and wheels

Another positive of the new scooter is the presence of a front suspension fork. It’s true that it’s just a basic spring fork with a low travel, so don’t expect any miracles.

The fork is rather stiff, and remember this is a scooter designed for the city. It handles smaller bumps well, but it’s weak on bigger impacts. Still, it definitely improves ride comfort, and the difference between a non-suspension scooter and the Eleglide Coozy is noticeable.

Ride comfort is also helped by the pneumatic wheels with dimensions 10 x 2.5″. Overall, riding around town is comfortable and enjoyable, with no unnecessary vibrations and no rattling.

Adjustable maximum speed

The Eleglide Coozy has a motor in the rear wheel. Its rated power is 350 W, and the maximum is 540 W. The manufacturer lists a maximum speed of 25 km/h, which is a common standard for city scooters.

In the Green Drive app, you can also adjust the speed limit from the preset 25 km/h up to a higher value—up to 50 km/h at maximum. The scooter may not be able to reach 50 km/h, but with our weight of 79 kg, on flat stretches we were getting roughly 32 km/h, which is still a pretty solid speed.

There are also a pair of weaker modes, with a maximum speed of 15 and 20 km/h. A button located under the display is used to switch between the modes.

Battery and range

The battery with a voltage of 36 V and a capacity of 12.5 Ah is located at the bottom of the scooter. The manufacturer declares a maximum range per charge of 55 km.

Of course, we tested the range in real-world conditions. We rode the e-scooter through the streets of Košice with a 79 kg rider. Since Košice is not a very flat city, we didn’t skip the hills either. We mostly rode on bike paths and regular sidewalks or roads.

We used a mode with the maximum speed we increased, as we mentioned in the previous chapters. With a maximum speed of about 32 km/h, we covered only almost 17 km, which isn’t much. The Green Drive app measured a bit more: 21.6 km. For the preset speed of 25 km/h, expect a range of around 22 – 25 km. Don’t forget that range depends on the rider’s weight, riding style, and also the terrain.

We’re missing some kind of low-battery indicator in the form of a warning, so we’d notice the battery capacity is already below 20%. For example, when it drops under 20%, the last segment of the battery icon on the display could turn red.

Folding mechanism and brakes

The folding mechanism is very simple and easy to operate. The e-scooter is released at the folding joint using the locking lever, and then the main stem together with the handlebar folds toward the rear fender. Here, the handlebar is secured with a hook on the fender.

The folding joint holds up well during riding, but when folding, we recommend being careful. The moment we released the locking lever, the main steering stem would always move. The first time, it dropped into the folded position toward the rear wheel, where we managed to lightly scratch the glossy black part around the display area.

As for the braking system, we have an E-ABS electric brake, and also a rear disc brake with a disc of diameter 140 mm.

Green Drive app

Since the e-scooter also supports Bluetooth connectivity, you can easily pair it with your smartphone using the Green Drive app, which doesn’t require any registration or sign-in.

Everything important is on the main screen that appears after you connect the e-scooter. The main circular element shows your current speed, total distance traveled, and the distance of your current ride.

Below, you’ll find the battery capacity in percentages, the motor temperature, and several control elements. This includes, for example, turning the lights on, switching riding modes, locking the e-scooter, or setting the cruise control.

One interesting item is called Settings, where you can change the speed limit—just like we mentioned in our review above. The preset value is 25 km/h.

Eleglide Coozy: Final evaluation

Eleglide Coozy is a standard city electric e-scooter that offers power 350 W via an electric motor located in the rear wheel. The manufacturer lists the maximum speed as only the standard 25 km/h, but with the app you can increase it. After unlocking, we actually rode at a maximum speed of 32 km/h.

The front suspension and pneumatic 10″ wheels ensure a comfortable ride. You’ll also appreciate the ample foot space and the direction indicators integrated into the handlebar.

The downside is the weaker battery—after unlocking the speed, we managed only almost 17 km on a single charge.
