Hydrofast C300 isn’t just a regular filter, but a multifunctional home station. From standard tap water, thanks to reverse osmosis and UV light, it can produce an absolutely clean drink—while also handling the creation of your favorite soda smoothly. The biggest advantage: you don’t need to call a plumber or do complicated modifications to the plumbing under the sink. Just place the device on a kitchen counter or in an office, plug it in, and you get instant access to top-quality water.
In our review, we’ll look at whether this massive device can truly replace several kitchen appliances at once, what potential pitfalls its installation brings, and how it performed in our real-world test.

Packaging quality and first impressions
The package arrived in perfect condition, even though the box showed slight signs of shipping. Inside, however, everything was securely packed and without any damage. In the box, you’ll find the device itself, one PET bottle, and a manual in English.
At first, we were surprised that there was no filter or a CO2 cartridge in the box. The manual—which, by the way, is written in a very clear way—quickly got us oriented. The filter is already pre-installed in the device. As for the CO2 cartridge for making sparkling water, you need to buy that separately.
These fit standard blue threaded soda cartridges (e.g. for SodaStream), which you can get in any bigger store for about 28 to 35 EUR. But be very careful when choosing: the device supports exclusively a screw thread, so newer pink cartridges with the snap-on system (Quick Connect) won’t fit into it.
Design and placement in the space
When unpacking, be prepared for the fact that Hydrofast C300 is a proper machine. The device itself weighs almost 14 kilograms. You’ll need to think carefully about where to place it for two important reasons.
The first is cooling. The unit needs at least 10 centimeters of free space on each side for air intake and circulation. The second important factor is refilling. The water tank is inserted and removed from the top, which means you can’t place the device directly under kitchen cabinets. If you want to top up water conveniently, you’ll need enough clearance above it.
The front of the device features a huge touch display. It looks extremely elegant and works almost like a mirror, but the price you pay for this design is that it’s prone to fingerprints. The screen readily attracts smudges, so if you’re picky about perfect cleanliness, be prepared to polish it regularly.
Important note: Before plugging it into the power outlet for the first time, the device should be left to stand at rest in the selected spot for 12 to 24 hours.
Advanced 6-stage filtration and health benefits
At the heart of this device is a comprehensive 6-stage filtration system. The water gradually passes through a mechanical layer and coconut carbon until it reaches the key element: a top-of-the-line reverse osmosis membrane. It has an incredibly fine pore size of 0,0001 micrometers. In practice, that means it can filter out more than a thousand types of impurities, including heavy metals, chlorine, and nitrates, and it removes up to 95 % of dissolved solids (TDS).
Note: The abbreviation TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) refers to the total amount of dissolved solids in water. It includes all inorganic and organic substances, minerals, or salts. The lower the TDS value, the cleaner and softer the water. While regular tap water usually has values around 150 to 300 ppm, water after reverse osmosis filtration drops to below 20 ppm.
A major health benefit is the device’s ability to reduce so-called “forever chemicals” (PFAS substances) by up to 99%, which are increasingly linked to negative effects on the body.
Since reverse osmosis demineralizes the water, the system also includes a mineralization filter. It puts beneficial minerals back into the water and adjusts the pH to above 7,5—ideal for everyday drinking. The whole process is then secured with continuous UV sterilization, which reliably eliminates 99,99% of all bacteria and viruses.
Installation, first start, and pitfalls
After the resting period comes the first start-up and the cleaning cycle. Here, you’ll need a bit of patience. The initial flushing of the filters takes about 5 minutes and the device uses roughly 1,5 liters of water. This process needs to be repeated three times in a row. So make sure you have a sufficiently large, heat-resistant container ready.
During our first attempts to fill a glass with water, we noticed slight inconsistencies in the dosing. Once the machine dispensed less water, and another time a little more than what was set. After a few cycles, though, it stabilized and the dosing started working completely reliably.
The biggest surprise came when we tried to fill 7-stage cold water. The device dispensed only room-temperature, hot, and boiling water. Again, the manual helped: we found that the active cooling function is disabled at the factory. To enable it, you need to press and hold the “Cold” and “Lock” buttons simultaneously for about 8 seconds. However, be prepared for the fact that after activating cooling, the device must be flushed again and will automatically drain about 1.5 liters of water. Only after this step did we finally get truly cold, refreshing water.
Real-world experience and water quality
The big advantage of C300 is that you don’t need to connect it to the water supply. The 5-liter tank, however, is a double-edged sword. For a family of four that would drink exclusively from this device, it means having to refill water several times a day. On the other hand, if you don’t run out of water quickly, it stays sitting in the tank, which may not suit everyone. Still, the difference in taste is huge. Filtered water through reverse osmosis tastes significantly better—any chlorine smell and aftertaste have completely disappeared. Since we don’t add milk or sugar to coffee, we immediately noticed that coffee made with pre-filtered water is more delicious and smoother.
The device heats water extremely fast. If you need 100-level boiling water, a 150 ml portion is dispensed in 20 seconds. Half a liter of boiling water takes about 1 minutes and 35 seconds.
However, we should also mention the noise. With active cooling, you can hear the device fairly clearly. Right next to it, we measured values of around 50 to 60 decibels. At a distance of two meters, the noise dropped to 40 decibels. Our test was done using only a smartphone, but subjectively, during cooling the unit is noticeably noisier than a good modern fridge with a linear compressor. A similar noise level (around 50 dB) is also produced by the internal pump when filtering raw water into the 1,5-liter tank for clean water.
Practical tip: If you have cooling turned on, you can make hot coffee and immediately after that pour yourself an iced soda. But if cooling is turned off and you dispense 100-degree water, the next portion of “room-temperature water” can reach 25 to 35 degrees. In summer, in a overheated apartment without air conditioning, you won’t get refreshing cold drinks without active cooling.
Eco-friendly operation and filter maintenance
Older reverse osmosis systems often struggled with huge water waste. Hydrofast C300 is much more water-efficient in this regard and delivers a ratio of 2,5 liters of clean water per 1 liter of wastewater.
One composite filter can produce up to 2000 liters of clean water, so you can replace more than 4000 disposable plastic bottles. The filter life ranges from 6 to 12 months depending on how often you use it and the quality of your tap water. When it’s time to replace it, the device will automatically alert you on the display.
The subsequent replacement is designed so that absolutely anyone can handle it—it takes place in three simple steps and you don’t need any tools. However, you should keep in mind that the price of a new filter is around 100 euros.
Final verdict
Hydrofast C300 is a great machine for demanding users who want a comprehensive solution. In practice, the device works like a full-fledged 3v1: it replaces a kettle, a soda maker, and a dispenser for chilled water, while also adding top-notch filtration using reverse osmosis. If you were to buy all of these appliances separately, you’d probably end up at a similar price level.
We consider the biggest pluses to be significantly better water taste, fast heating speed, robust build quality, and an eco-friendly approach with an excellent water-use efficiency ratio. On the other hand, before buying, you should expect a higher weight, larger space requirements, a mirror display that’s prone to fingerprints, and the need to buy replacement filters at a cost of around 100 euros. If you don’t mind these trade-offs and you’re looking for maximum convenience, Hydrofast C300 is an exceptionally practical helper for a modern kitchen.
If we’ve convinced you with this review to buy this reverse osmosis system, soda maker, and water heater in one, you can do so through our partner Geekbuying.
