The popular app Spotify for music and podcast streaming brings a new Songs Library design, as well as sharing lyrics for individual songs. We also have the first photos of the app’s new design line.
Spotify: New Songs Library design
Spotify, one of the most popular mobile apps, is testing a new user interface in Android. This should make it easier to navigate content and it combines an extensive catalog of music and podcasts with a layout in a list or a grid.
A new design is coming as a leak from the Android Police source, thanks to which we also have the first real screenshots from use. From now on, in your library you’ll see links – Playlists, Artists, Albums, Downloaded, which let you filter content quickly. The button to create a playlist has been moved to the top-right corner, right next to the new search button.
“What sets it apart from the old design is the grid view for those who prefer a more visual layout, plus the mentioned ability to see everything in one list. In the old design, you had to tap the – Filter next to the search bar and check the – Downloads filter, but it only applied to the currently open tab. So if you wanted to see all your offline content, you had to select it separately for albums, again for playlists, and then for podcasts. And if you wanted to go back to browsing the entire library content, you also had to clear the selected filter on each tab separately. In short, it wasn’t an efficient experience.” – explains Android Police.
Famous app launches song lyrics sharing
The new design isn’t perfect; it has its flaws. For example, when using the – Downloads filter in the list, all folders that contain offline playlists are shown. Opening a folder then reveals all of its contents, not just the offline playlists.
In addition, Spotify is introducing a feature that will allow you to share song lyrics on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. Until now, social media sharing was limited to the songs themselves, not the accompanying lyrics. This week, the new features are rolling out together at Spotify’s Stream On event. At the event, Spotify also announced a new HiFi tier, but we don’t know more about it at this time.
