Source: Road.cc The new and stronger brother of the popular model ThinkRider X2Max — the ThinkRider XXPRO smart trainer. It can handle resistance up to 2 500 W, simulates climbs of up to 25 %, and measures power with an accuracy of ±1 %. Thanks to the motor, it can spin the wheel on its own during descents. Customer reviews: Quiet, precise, and delivered fast
On AliExpress, the XXPRO has an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 from over 800 reviews, and more than 4,000 units have been sold. Buyers from Spain replaced their older ThinkRider X2 with it and praise the quiet operation as well as precise power measurement. The power figure can also be adjusted in the app by ±10 % so it matches their wattmeter. No slipping was noticed, and for that money, in their opinion, the trainer has no competition.
A customer from the Czech Republic had the trainer at home in about three days and already rode 200 km on it. At 150 to 200 W, they measured noise around 55 to 60 dB, so you can train there without issues even in the evening in an apartment building. A reviewer from Romania said the setup is easy, but to tighten the cassette he needed a special key, so he had it installed at a service center. They also claim it connects to MyWhoosh in always within a second, and workouts from there are sent to Strava and intervals.icu as well.
Power 2 500 W and measurement accuracy ±1 %
The XXPRO is powered by a third-generation brushless motor that can handle resistance up to 2 500 W, so it doesn’t get out of breath even during hard sprints. Compared to the X2Max with a maximum of 2 000 W and an incline up to 18 %, it can also simulate steeper climbs with a gradient of up to 25 %. The wattmeter is built directly into the trainer and, besides power, it also sends cadence, speed, and the left/right leg load ratio.
The accuracy of ±1 % was also confirmed by the British website road.cc, which compared XXPRO with the Favero Assioma pedal power meter and found an average difference of only 1,5 W. Road.cc gave the trainer a score of 9 out of 10 and criticized only its slower ERG-mode response to load changes and the blinking logo, which cannot be turned off.
Downhill simulation and training even without a wall outlet
The most interesting feature is the downhill simulation, where, when descending on a virtual route, the motor spins up the flywheel on its own and you feel the bike gaining speed downhill. Until now, this was mainly available on much more expensive trainers, such as Tacx Neo. For the downhill simulation to work, the XXPRO must be plugged into a power outlet.
However, the trainer can also generate electricity itself by pedaling, so you can set it up on a terrace, in a garage, or in front of your house without an extension cable and do interval training on it. It connects to apps via ANT+ and Bluetooth and works with Zwift, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, TrainerRoad, and BKOOL, but it doesn’t have Wi‑Fi or a wired connection.
Foldable legs, 18 kg, and compatibility
The trainer weighs 18 kg and, when unfolded, takes up about 48 × 50 × 52 cm. The wide H-shaped legs, according to reviewers, keep it stable even during sprints out of the saddle. After training, you fold the legs up and store the trainer in a corner or under the bed using the handle. To mount your bike, it supports quick-release levers as well as solid axles 142 × 12 and 148 × 12 mm, so it works with road and mountain bikes with wheels from 24″ to 29″.
Keep in mind that the cassette is not included. The trainer comes with a standard body for Shimano HG (8 to 12 speeds) and SRAM (8 to 11 speeds), and if you have an XDR cassette, there’s also another body available. If you don’t want to deal with the cassette or shifting the chain, ThinkRider also offers a separate accessory for virtual shifting VS200—many buyers ordered it together with the trainer.
