Chinese manufacturer Realme, which originally belonged under the big and well-known Chinese brand Oppo, announced its new flagship smartphone a few weeks ago in the Indian market. It is now going on sale in its home Chinese market as the successor to last year's realme X50 5G.

Premium specs: realme X50 Pro 5G

The new model arrives under the official name realme X50 Pro 5G, offering top-tier flagship specs as well as support for next-generation networks. But aside from the tech, it also brings a modern and attractive metal design with a smoked, matte glass back. On the front, it offers a 6.44″ Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and HDR 10 support.

The pair of front cameras is placed in a display cutout, specifically featuring a primary 32 MPx SONY IMX616 (f/2.5) sensor, complemented by a second 8 MPx ultra-wide sensor (f/2.2). It delivers a field of view of up to 105 degrees for high-quality “selfie” photos—also with more people.

Inside the smartphone there is a powerful octa-core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, which is paired with 8/12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage. There’s no shortage of memory expansion via a microSD card, but also dedicated liquid cooling—especially helpful for graphics-heavy gaming titles.

Up to 64 MPx rear camera, USB-C, and 5G

The back features four camera sensors at once. The individual sensors are arranged vertically in the upper-left corner of the rear panel. The main one is a 64 MPx (f/1.8) sensor with support for up to 4K video at 30 frames per second.

It’s also complemented with a telephoto lens with a resolution of 12 MPx (f/2.5), which will deliver up to 20-times hybrid zoom. You’ll also get a 8 MPx ultra-wide sensor (f/2.3) with a viewing angle up to 119 degrees. The setup is rounded off with a 2 MPx (f/2.4) portrait sensor; its main job is to blur the background.

In terms of connectivity, it offers a range of different technologies, including 5G SA/NSA dual connectivity, 4G VoLTE, Dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, dual GPS, NFC for contactless payments, for example, and a USB Type-C connector for charging.

On the software side, realme X50 Pro 5G comes with Android 10, which also includes the manufacturer’s custom interface. Battery life is handled by a battery with a total capacity of up to 4200 mAh, and the phone also supports up to 65W SuperDart fast charging.

It will go on sale in two color variants: Rust Red and Moss Green. The actual sale in China kicks off on 19. March / března 2020. There will be several versions available. The base model will offer 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage for 3599 yuan, which comes to almost 470 euros / 13 021 Kč.

Next comes the 8 GB RAM + 256 GB version priced at 3899 yuan, or 508 EUR / 14 106 CZK. The best-equipped version offers 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage for 4199 yuan, which comes to 548 EUR / 15 178 CZK.
