Wi‑Fi across the whole garden—even 300 meters from the house: This external router has 7 dBi antennas and a coupon price

30. September 2026 4 min read 0 comments

The range of a home router from the living room usually ends somewhere around the terrace, so outdoors—by the pool or in the garage—the signal gets weaker and your camera or robotic lawnmower constantly disconnects. WAVLINK AX3000 is an outdoor Wi‑Fi 6 router in a camouflage-patterned housing that you can mount on a pole or the façade. It has six antennas with a gain of 7 dBi, and according to the manufacturer it reaches up to 300 meters from the house. It’s powered via PoE, so only a single Ethernet cable needs to run to it—you don’t need an outdoor power outlet.

Wi‑Fi 6 with speeds up to 3000 Mb/s and five operating modes

The router uses the Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard and broadcasts on both bands at the same time—up to 2402 Mb/s on 5 GHz and an additional 573 Mb/s on 2.4 GHz. MU‑MIMO lets it send data to multiple devices at once, and beamforming directs the signal straight to them, so your video outdoors doesn’t stutter and cameras record without dropouts. Up to 256 devices can connect to it, which comes in handy more for a cottage, a guesthouse, or a business yard than for a family home.

You can set it up in five modes. As a router or access point, you connect it by cable to your home router and it creates a new network outside. In repeater mode, it wirelessly captures the existing Wi‑Fi and forwards it, while the AP + repeater combination is useful for bridging longer distances. The most convenient is Mesh mode (Everything Mesh), where the whole house and garden share one network name and one password, and your phone switches between the points automatically.

Range up to 300 meters for your garden, cameras, and mower

Coverage is handled by six omnidirectional antennas with a gain of 7 dBi, aided by built-in signal boosters. The manufacturer lists a range of up to 300 meters, but that applies to the 5 GHz band in direct line-of-sight without obstacles. On 2.4 GHz, Wavlink estimates about 100 meters, while trees, walls, or uneven terrain reduce the distance in practice.

A typical residential property will still be covered with a sufficiently strong signal. You’ll get coverage to the pool, gazebo, workshop, or garage—but it’s especially appreciated by devices that need Wi‑Fi all the time: IP cameras, a video doorbell at the gate, or a robotic lawnmower that can’t report its status without a connection to the app.

IP67 rating and lightning protection

The router’s body has IP67 protection, so rain, snow, and dust won’t hurt it—and you can leave it outdoors all year long. It should work in temperatures from -10 to 70 °C, and it’s protected against static electricity up to 15 kV and against lightning surge up to 6 kV. The manufacturer also recommends connecting a grounding wire.

One limitation you should know in advance: the PoE injector and the power adapter are not waterproof and belong inside the house or in a dry technical room. Outdoors there’s only the router itself and the Ethernet cable that leads to it.

One cable is enough thanks to PoE

The most practical feature is power via PoE (Power over Ethernet). With a single network cable, both the internet and electricity go to the router, so you don’t have to run 230 V wiring to a pole or mount an outdoor power socket. It supports the 802.3af and 802.3at standards as well as passive 48 V power, so you can also connect it to a PoE switch if you have one at home. The port is gigabit, so it also handles faster connections.

In the box you’ll find a router, six antennas, a PoE injector with an adapter, a power cable, screws, and also metal mounting brackets for a pole. The router weighs 552 grams and measures 17 × 17,3 × 5,1 cm, so you can mount it to a wall or a mast with just one person. On Banggood it currently has a full rating of 5,0 out of seven reviews. There are only a few reviews for a clear verdict, but nobody there reports any issues.
