A floating island across the entire system. The new ColorOS 17 will also come to Realme and OnePlus

Quick summary

  • Oppo has confirmed that ColorOS 17 will be unveiled on September 17, 2026 at its own developer conference.
  • The overlay builds on Android 17, and its debut will be with the new Find X10 series.
  • The biggest visual change is the floating island in navigation across the whole system.
  • Oppo promises a 35% smoother interface, 20% faster app launches, and 50% more apps running in the background.
  • The update should go to over 130 models from Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme.

Oppo has finally revealed the date. The new version of its system skin ColorOS 17 will be officially shown on 17 September 2026, and with it will also come a new flagship Find X10 lineup. One event will be both a software and hardware premiere at once. And since the update also concerns OnePlus and Realme phones, it’s a new feature for a solid chunk of the market.

Floating island and the numbers Oppo is promising

The system is built on Android 17. The most noticeable change should be the floating island in navigation, which will appear across the system as well as in most pre-installed apps. Oppo keeps the animation style from last year, but adds a more responsive feel: elements stretch, compress, and bounce back when you tap. It sounds like cosmetics, but it’s these details that decide whether the system feels “alive”.

More interesting are the numbers. The manufacturer claims roughly a 35% higher interface smoothness, about a fifth faster cold start of apps, and a half larger number of apps that will remain active in the background. The last figure is probably the most useful in practice. That’s because aggressive killing of background apps is one of the most common complaints about Chinese skins.

As reported by Gizmochina, citing Oppo’s official Weibo channel, closed beta testing has been running since early August on selected newer phones. So some users may have been able to try out the new navigation and animations even before the debut.

It will land on over 130 phones, including OnePlus and Realme

After launch, ColorOS 17 should roll out to more than 130 models across Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme brands. All three companies belong to the same group and have long shared a software foundation, so it’s one update for three different phone lineups. Oppo hasn’t shared the exact list of supported models or the release schedule yet. That usually comes as part of the conference itself.

It’s precisely the scope that makes this news interesting for us too. Oppo and Realme have official representation in Slovakia, and their phones are commonly sold in our shops. If you have one of the newer models from these brands, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll get the update—although in our case it’s usually delayed by a few weeks up to a few months compared to China.

Find X10: three models and cameras with 200 megapixels

At the same event, the new Find X10 lineup should also be unveiled—right away in three versions. The base Find X10 is expected, based on current information, to feature a more compact 6.59-inch display with 1.5K resolution, a 8 000 mAh battery, and a pair of 200MP cameras: the main sensor and a periscope telephoto lens.

The Find X10 Pro and Find X10 Pro Max versions should be getting even higher specs, with 6.78-inch displays, a Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, and more ambitious camera gear. For the Pro Max model, they even say there will be three 200MP sensors at once—so the main one, an ultra-wide, and a telephoto lens. However, these are still just pre-launch info, and the final specs as well as the number of models can still change. The photo above is for reference of the previous generation, the Find X9 Ultra. What the “ten” will look like, we don’t officially know yet.
