Quick summary

  • Luxeed is preparing for the world six models
  • First will be the minivan LLounge and the SUV Stormax
  • Four crossovers will be made only for export
  • Export cars without Huawei technologies

Premium brand Luxeed, which Chery is developing together with Huawei, is getting ready to expand beyond China with six electrified models. First to hit the world will be the big minivan LLounge and the sporty SUV Stormax; later, they’ll be joined by four crossovers that Luxeed in China doesn’t sell at all. The export cars, according to the head of the international division, will have nothing to do with Huawei.

Three rows and four cars only for export

The CarNewsChina portal describes a slide from the brand’s presentation, according to which Luxeed will split its offering for overseas into three lines. The LLounge minivan and the Stormax SUV will each have their own lineup. The third consists of four crossovers with working names 3, 5, 7 and 9, which are supposed to be more luxurious than the Stormax focused on driving.

At home, Luxeed sells the S7 sedan, the R7 crossover coupe, the V9 minivan and the RX SUV, while it will develop four new Chery crossovers specifically for foreign markets. They’ll get three types of powertrains—probably fully electric, plug-in hybrid, and an electric vehicle with a range extender. The brand will reveal more about them only next year.

Stormax: an SUV by designer Werner Gruber

In China, Stormax is sold as Luxeed RX and was designed by Werner Gruber. It’s a large five-seat SUV with a length of 5 020 mm and a wheelbase of 3 000 mm, riding on 20- or 22-inch wheels, with tires of different widths on the front and rear. The rear lights are made up of 10 000 randomly arranged elements reminiscent of crystals.

The base version has a single motor on the rear axle with output of 277 kW (371 hp), while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version goes up to 437 kW (586 hp). The battery capacity ranges from 81.1 to 100.42 kWh, and according to the Chinese CLTC cycle it delivers 700 to 852 km; according to the stricter WLTP that corresponds to 574 to 699 km. In China it costs 259 800 to 389 800 yuan (about 34 800 to 52 200 €).

The front seats have 98 sensors and 27 air cushions that continuously adjust support based on driving conditions and body position, and can also pull in the side cushions. The trunk has 622 liters and another 30 liters of hidden space, and it can also be opened by tapping the lid.

LLounge: Seven seats and a range extender

The LLounge minivan is known in China as Luxeed V9. It measures 5 359 mm in length and 1 879 mm in height, with a 3 250 mm wheelbase. The seven seats are laid out 2+2+3, and the seats in the second row have helmet-shaped airbags around the head. Equipment includes 25 speakers, LiDAR, dual-chamber air suspension, and rear-wheel steering.

With rear-wheel drive, it’s powered by an electric motor rated at 227 kW; with all-wheel drive, it uses two motors rated at 382 kW. Power comes from a 53.4 kWh battery and a 1.5-liter gasoline range extender. On electricity alone it covers 234 to 250 km according to WLTP, and in China it costs 389 800 to 519 800 yuan (about 52 200 to 69 600 €). The export version has an updated look.

Without Huawei, first Thailand and Australia

In China, Luxeed is part of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility alliance, so the cars have assist systems, a HarmonyOS cockpit, and a Huawei drivetrain. For overseas, that doesn’t apply: Luxeed International CEO Shawn Xu told AutoTrader NZ that export cars won’t be related to Huawei, whether in terms of hardware or software. According to a report from the 36Kr portal, they’ll get electronics, assist systems and a cockpit developed directly by Chery.

The LLounge minivan will arrive first in Thailand at the beginning of the year 2027, followed by Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, and it’s expected to reach Australia and New Zealand around mid-year 2027. Chery has been developing the minivan from the start with right-hand drive, and it will arrive in the UK a bit later.

Mainland Europe is not planned for now. Chery is represented in Slovakia by Omoda and Jaecoo, which, according to the Best Selling Cars Blog, achieved a record position in the brand rankings in May 2026, but there’s no mention yet of a Luxeede for our market.
