FiiO JM21 is an affordable Hi-Res music player that brings a lot of technologies known from much more expensive models. The manufacturer bet on a modern Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 680, its own DAPS audio system, a pair of top-tier DAC converters Cirrus Logic CS43198 and a full-fledged Android 13.
The result is a player that handles both your local music library and popular streaming services without compromising sound quality.

Modern hardware with Snapdragon 680 and Android 13
FiiO JM21 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor made using a modern 6 nm manufacturing process. That gives you higher performance with lower power consumption, which you’ll appreciate in everyday use as well as when playing Hi-Res music. The processor is backed by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, with capacity you can easily expand via a microSD card up to 2 TB.
The full-featured Android 13 is the big advantage—it lets you install music apps like TIDAL, Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming services. So the player doesn’t have to be used only for locally stored tracks; it also handles modern online platforms without any issues.
A pair of DAC chips and fully balanced design
The biggest advantage of the player is its audio section. The manufacturer used a pair of premium DAC conversion chips Cirrus Logic CS43198 together with a pair of high-quality operational amplifiers SGM8262. The entire audio path is designed as fully balanced, which helps minimize noise, crosstalk and distortion.
There’s also a built-in DAPS system with an FPGA chip and a pair of femtosecond oscillators that ensure very precise timing of the digital signal. The result is cleaner sound, better dynamics and more faithful music reproduction even with demanding high-resolution recordings.
Power up to 700 mW + 700 mW for demanding headphones
Power is one of the biggest surprises of this new release. Through the balanced 4.4 mm output, it offers up to 700 mW + 700 mW, which is more than enough even for more demanding studio or audiophile headphones. You get three gain levels, so you can easily match it to sensitive in-ear monitors as well as large over-ear models.
A classic 3.5 mm output is also included, and it supports Line-Out as well as a coaxial digital output. That way, the player can work as a signal source for external amplifiers or DAC converters.
Bluetooth, USB DAC and WiFi in one device
FiiO JM21 isn’t just a typical MP3 player. Bluetooth 5.0 supports two-way communication, so it can not only send music but also receive it. Supported codecs include SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LHDC and high-quality LDAC.
It also includes a USB DAC function. When connected to a computer, the player can significantly improve sound quality when playing music. It supports up to 384 kHz / 32-bit, while the digital USB Audio output can handle even 768 kHz / 32-bit and DSD512.
Lightweight body, high-quality display, and long battery life
The player also stands out thanks to its compact dimensions. The thickness is only 13 mm and the weight is about 156 grams, so it easily fits in your pocket. Control is handled by a 4.7-inch IPS display with HD resolution of 750 × 1334 pixels, offering very good readability even during longer use.
A 2400 mAh battery provides about 12.5 hours of playback via the standard 3.5 mm output, or about 9.5 hours when using the balanced 4.4 mm output. Charging via USB-C takes around two hours.
