We’re not done with the new releases just yet. The Chinese brand Honor has officially presented its new flagship smartphones Honor Magic 4 and Honor Magic 4 Pro. The package includes up to 100 W wireless charging and an LTPO display, or even a 64 MPx periscope camera.

Honor Magic 4 Pro: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 120 Hz LTPO AMOLED

The more powerful of the two devices, the Honor Magic 4 Pro, comes with a quad-curved 6.81″ LTPO AMOLED display that delivers a resolution of 2664 x 1224 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The advantages include a maximum brightness of up to 1000 nits, as well as 1920 Hz PWM Dimming backlight technology that eliminates excessive screen flicker.

In terms of performance, there’s a flagship 4 nm processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, complemented by up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage (depending on the configuration). Honor also brings its GPU Turbo X graphics acceleration, which will especially please mobile gamers. The design is also dust- and water-resistant, with an IP 68 certification.

On the back, there’s a large circular camera module called “Eye of Muse”. It houses the main 50 MPx sensor (1/1.56″), which combines up to 4 pixels into one, and it’s also paired with an equally important 50 MPx ultra-wide-angle sensor (1/2.5″). There’s also a 64 MPx periscope telephoto lens (1/2″) with 3.5x optical and up to 100x digital zoom.

The camera module also includes a dToF depth sensor for depth sensing, along with a dual-LED flash. Honor also offers various software modes such as AI Color and Ultra-Fusion photography, plus support for premium IMAX Enhanced 10-bit 4K video, which can be recorded at up to 60 frames per second. On the front, embedded within the display cutout, there’s a 12 MPx “selfie” camera and a dToF depth sensor.

On the software side, you’ll get Android 12, along with the Magic UI 6.0 graphical overlay. In this case, the battery capacity is 4600 mAh, and it supports ultra-fast 100 W wired charging, as well as even 100 W ultra-fast wireless charging via Honor SuperCharge chargers. The manufacturer claims a full charge in 30 minutes with a cable, or 50% capacity in 15 minutes with wireless charging.

Honor Magic 4: 50 MPx camera and 4800 mAh battery

Besides the premium “Pro” model, Honor also officially introduced a lighter flagship variant called Honor Magic 4. It offers the same 6.81″ LTPO AMOLED panel, but this time it’s curved only along the edges. The display still features 120 Hz, resolution of 2664 x 1224 pixels, support for a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, and the aforementioned 1920 Hz PWM technology.

Even the cheaper smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, processor made using 4 nm technology, and at launch we also expect various RAM and storage configurations. The changes come in the cameras: the main 50 MPx and ultra-wide 50 MPx sensors are complemented here by an 8 MPx telephoto lens with 5x optical and 50x digital zoom. The front camera is single only, with 12 MPx.

The phone’s construction is water-drop resistant; compared to the “Pro” version, it has a weaker certification at the IP 54 level. On the software side, you’ll get the Android 12 operating system with the Magic UI 6.0 graphical overlay. Honor Magic 4 will support somewhat slower 66 W charging, but it has a larger battery capacity—up to 4800 mAh.

Price and availability of the new flagship smartphones

Both new models marked Honor Magic 4 and Honor Magic 4 Pro will come in color options Cyan, Gold, White, Black (glass back versions) and also in the exceptional Orange color (back made of vegan leather).

The retail price of the Magic 4 smartphone starts at 899 €. The Magic 4 Pro model will be sold for 1099 € (8 GB RAM + 256 GB). Sales are scheduled to kick off during the second quarter of 2022. In the same period, we also expect availability in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
