The Chinese manufacturer Huawei is already preparing its new foldable smartphone with the label Huawei Mate X2. It should also be released this month, and we also know the first details directly from the manufacturer.
New Foldable Smartphone: Premium Huawei Mate X2
Current official information is coming directly from Huawei, the manufacturer. The new model with a foldable design will be officially unveiled at a press conference on February 22, 2021. Chinese Huawei and South Korean Samsung are among the first manufacturers to bring foldable smartphones to mass production.
The new device should hit the market under the official name Huawei Mate X2 and, unlike its predecessors Huawei Mate X or Huawei Mate Xs, it will also bring a change in the device’s design—i.e., the final look.
The previous models offered a flexible design and a folding display that opens outward. This time, the fold should be in the opposite direction, as shown by the official teaser from the Chinese manufacturer.
We already know the technical specifications
Based on available and unofficial leaks, we already know some of the key technical specifications. This smartphone’s specs should include a foldable display with a total diagonal of 8.01″ and a resolution of 2480 x 2220 pixels.
On the front side (when folded), there will also be an additional display with a diagonal of 6.45″ and a resolution of 2270 x 1160 pixels. In terms of performance, a powerful processor made using 5 nm technology should also be included, branded HiSilicon Kirin 9000.
The smartphone should also offer a 16 MPx front camera and four rear cameras. The primary rear sensor will deliver up to 50 MPx and will be paired with a more unspecified 16 MPx, 12 MPx, and 8 MPx sensors. Supported features should also include a 10-times hybrid zoom.
The battery should have a capacity of 4400 mAh, but keep in mind it will power up to two large displays. What’s promising is support for fast charging, up to 66W. The phone should measure around 161,8 x 145,8 x 8,2 mm and have a fairly high weight of up to 295 grams.
