iQOO, the sister company of the Vivo giant, is preparing a new smartphone lineup. Its debut will be the model marked iQOO Z1, bringing a great 144 Hz display, 5G, 44 W charging, and a planned MediaTek processor.
Besides Huawei and Honor, this year’s Android flagship phones mostly came with the latest Snapdragon 865 chip, but iQOO Z1 wants to go for the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+.
The launch is set for May 19
So this should be the first smartphone with this not-yet-released processor, and its launch date is already very close.
The manufacturer, via its Weibo account, announced the launch date as May 19. The event is expected to happen via a live video conference.
A design leak has also already surfaced
A post on the manufacturer’s social network showed the outline of the front of the iQOO Z1. It features curved display edges with a punch-hole for the selfie camera.
A reliable leaker, however, has obtained real photos of this upcoming model. The images confirm the punch-hole design, as well as a 144 Hz display and very thin bezels.
Top-tier specs
Besides the design, we definitely know it will come with a 144 Hz panel. There are rumors about using a cheaper LCD IPS panel, which would be a shame for a higher-end smartphone if we can then classify it in this category. The display could be 6.57″, just like the iQOO Neo 3.
The model designation is most likely V1986A, which has already been certified in China. With this info, support for 5G and likely very fast 44 W charging was also confirmed.
MediaTek Dimensity 1000+
As we mentioned earlier, in the meantime, during the speculation period, the manufacturer managed to confirm it, and it’s more than likely it will come with a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor.
So it could be the very first device with this processor, and the iQOO Z1 might show what it can do. Will it be a true competitor to the Snapdragon? We’ll find out soon.
