Nubia Z70 Ultra packs 515 € of photo hardware—something even the 1000 € flagships never had: a variable aperture, 35 mm optics, SD 8 Elite, and a 6150 mAh battery

Nubia Z70 Ultra is one of those smartphones where, the moment you look at the specs, you realize this isn’t another run-of-the-mill Chinese model. Nubia sticks to its own philosophy of a 35 mm main camera, adds a new variable aperture f/1.6 – f/4.0, and also changes the focal lengths of the ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. Because of these tweaks, it’s one of the strongest camera phones of the year—plus a fresh Snapdragon 8 Elite and a premium AMOLED display.

Are you shopping on AliExpress for the first time?

The process is via the AliExpress mobile app, where most people shop. There are two key things: don’t use Buy now and enter the coupon only in the order summary, in the field Promo code. After you click Pay now, you won’t be able to add it.

1. Copy the code and click Use discountIn our article, copy the coupon and click the button GET DISCOUNT. The link will take you directly to the product in the AliExpress app.
2. Use Add to cart instead of Buy nowOn the product card, scroll down and tap Add to cart. Don’t use the Buy now button—you’ll skip the cart, and later you won’t have anywhere to enter the coupon. Before that, double-check the variant: the color, the version, and whether it ships from an EU warehouse.
3. Through the cart, go to CheckoutA pop-up will appear: Added to cart! — tap Check it out in it. If it disappeared, open the cart with the icon at the bottom right. In the cart, check the product and quantity, then click the red Checkout. Only the items marked with the red ring will be applied.
4. Enter your address and card, then look for Promo codeIn the order summary, first fill in the delivery address and payment card at the top. Below them there’s a line Promo code — expand it with the arrow on the right.

5. Paste the code and confirm ApplyIn the field Promo code paste the copied code and click the black Apply. The code is case-sensitive and must not contain spaces.

6. Check the savings and payIn the Summary expand the line Saved — you’ll see the applied coupon there as AliExpress coupons/codes. Only when Total is really lower, click Pay now.

Apply the discount already at the order summary. After you click Pay now, you can no longer add a coupon. If Apply shows an error, the code has either expired, doesn’t apply to your items, or the order doesn’t meet the minimum amount.

The Store Coupon also goes in the same field. — a coupon from the seller itself, which isn’t always available and changes from day to day. AliExpress coupons can’t be combined, so try both and go with the one that gives you more. Coins are added automatically.

Rugged, solid build and a gorgeous 144 Hz AMOLED

Nubia has fitted a 6,85-inch AMOLED panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support and great maximum brightness up to 2000 nits. It displays up to a billion colors and is protected by durable Longxi Glass, 2nd generation. The aspect ratio and resolution 1216 × 2688 px guarantee perfect sharpness at a density of around 431 ppi.

The device weighs 228 g and has an aluminum frame, while both the front and back are made of glass. IP68/IP69 resistance means protection against dust, submersion, and strong water pressure—still something you don’t often see in this segment.

The phone supports video recording in 8K at 30 fps, or 4K at 120 fps. HDR10 10-bit video is also supported.

35 mm main camera with a variable aperture

Nubia puts the biggest emphasis on the camera. The main sensor Sony IMX906 with a resolution of 50 MP and a 35 mm focal length delivers an interesting image character that feels more like a classic compact camera than a typical mobile. The variable aperture in the range of f/1.6 to f/4.0 can significantly change the result: a wide-open aperture gives you shallow depth of field, while stopping down adds sharpness across the whole frame.

Photos have a very solid dynamic range, nice colors, and realistic tonal rendering. Details are sharp even though the processing has a slightly digital look—that’s a typical Nubia signature. Compared to Z60 Ultra, the shots look cleaner, but they still keep things natural.

Telephoto lens with 2.7× zoom and better macro

The telephoto camera uses a 64 MP sensor (OV64B) with a 70 mm focal length. Compared to last year’s model, the reach is slightly shorter, but it can focus much better at short distances—which is great for portraits, detailed shots, products, or plants.

One interesting feature is the zoom control. Nubia kept the original 18–35–85 mm buttons, so on the native 70 mm you have to switch manually. It’s not ideal, but pinch-to-zoom gestures can still be used.

Ultra-wide 13 mm focal length with a wide field of view

The ultra-wide camera offers 50 MP resolution and a much wider 13 mm focal length, letting you capture far more space than the predecessor. It’s great for architecture, interiors, and big landscapes. However, since Nubia used a smaller sensor (1/2.88”), image quality in low light drops a bit.

To get to the ultrawide again, you cycle through 18–24–13 mm switching, so the UI would definitely deserve a bit of tweaking.

7th-generation under-display camera

Nubia is one of the leaders in UDC technology. The new 16 MP front camera is hidden directly under the display and uses generative image processing to restore details covered by the pixel grid. The results are better than before and are more than enough for video calls.

A nice touch is the physical two-stage camera shutter button – a very pleasant feature that gives the phone the feel of a “real” camera.

Snapdragon 8 Elite and fast UFS 4.0 storage

The new Snapdragon 8 Elite built on a 3 nm process delivers brutal performance, excellent efficiency, and top-tier Adreno 830 graphics. Configurations go from 12 GB RAM up to an extreme 24 GB RAM, with storage up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 type.

The Nebula AIOS system based on Android 15 feels fast and snappy, while Nubia adds a bunch of AI features for photos as well as general optimization.

A big battery with 6150 mAh and 80 W charging

The phone is powered by a modern silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 6150 mAh, which easily handles even a demanding day. Charging has an output of 80 W and supports PD3.0 and QC4 protocols. The device does not offer wireless charging, but that allowed the manufacturer to make room for better cooling and a thinner body.
