Foldable smartphones have been one of the most interesting trends in the mobile world for several years now. But if you’ve ever tried one, you’ve definitely noticed one thing – the crease in the middle of the display. That’s exactly why many people decided not to buy a foldable device. Now OPPO is coming with the OPPO Find N6, which aims to practically eliminate this problem.

According to official information, this is the biggest technological leap in the Find N series so far. The new model introduces the “Zero-Feel Crease” concept, meaning a crease you should barely notice during normal use. It’s not a complete elimination of the physical fold, but in practice it should be virtually invisible.

A new hinge and 3D tech: the foundation of the whole revolution

The whole innovation is built on a completely new hinge mechanism called the 2nd-Generation Titanium Flexion Hinge. OPPO uses an advanced 3D Liquid Printing manufacturing process here, which can smooth out even microscopic irregularities in the structure. The result is an extremely precise surface that minimizes the crease on the display.

Interestingly, the deviation in the structure was reduced from about 0,2 mm to just 0,05 mm. That’s as much as 75 % less, which has a direct impact on how flat the display looks when unfolded. OPPO also adjusted the hinge architecture itself, for example with a wider “waterdrop” design that reduces pressure on the display when bending.

Flexible glass that “springs back”

The second important innovation is the Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass technology. It’s a special flexible glass that is thicker and has a significantly better ability to return to its original shape. In practice, that means that even after thousands of openings and closings, the display can “flatten out” and minimize the formation of a permanent crease.

According to OPPO’s internal tests carried out in cooperation with TÜV Rheinland, the combination of the new hinge in the Find N6 and the Auto-Smoothing Flex Glass layer reduces long-term crease depth by up to 80 % compared to the Find N5. In practice, that means the typical crease in the middle of the display should be much less noticeable after long-term use.

OPPO also claims that the display retains a flat surface without a visible crease even after more than 600 000 folds, which is a very strong argument for both durability and everyday comfort on a foldable smartphone.

Very high durability for a foldable smartphone

One of the most common concerns about foldable smartphones is durability. OPPO is therefore trying to dispel this myth. Find N6 comes with an Armour Shield structure that combines titanium components, ultra-strong steel elements and aerospace-grade aluminum.

The device is also equipped with advanced water and dust resistance with IP56, IP58 and IP59 certifications. That means it should handle not only ordinary splashes without any problem, but also tougher conditions such as strong water jets or higher temperatures.

A new standard for foldable smartphones?

Model OPPO Find N6 shows where foldable smartphones are heading. It’s no longer just a technological curiosity, but devices that try to eliminate their biggest weaknesses. Minimizing screen creasing and significantly improved durability are exactly the factors that can convince even skeptics.

It’s also interesting to watch the bigger context. At a time when, for example, there’s discussion about a possible retreat by the brand OnePlus from global markets, we see that its parent company OPPO is, in contrast, investing heavily in innovation and pushing the boundaries of technology further. This may hint at where smartphone development will go in the coming years.

If these technologies prove themselves in practice too, OPPO could pose a serious threat to competitors in the foldable devices market. And maybe this is the moment when foldable smartphones finally start becoming truly mainstream. Their higher price could still be a hurdle, but compared to the first generations, it gradually keeps coming down.
