The BlitzWolf brand is slowly starting to take shape like Xiaomi. That’s mainly because they also bring out devices like this and have a really diverse product lineup. This includes an external SSD drive called BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1, with a capacity of 256 GB, a thin body, and extremely fast speeds thanks to the USB-C port.

Pocket-friendly compact device
As your headline already suggests, the external drive BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1 arrived with us at the editorial office. Right when we took it out of the box, we were surprised by its compact dimensions and its really minimal thickness. The package also included a USB 3.1 cable with an adapter to USB-C, which delivers truly great speeds.
So this drive also supports the USB 3.1 standard. Another important point is backward compatibility from USB 3.1 to USB 2.0, so you can use it with older devices without worry.
You could carry it in your trouser pocket without any issues and you wouldn’t even feel like it’s there. The exact dimensions are then 100 x 29.5 x 9 mm and the weight is 30 g. This version comes in just one color, silver.
On the top part you’ll find a USB-C port, and that’s what provides the highest speeds. The device capacity is 256 GB, so it isn’t the largest external drive, but all of that is compensated for by its transfer speed.
Our measured speed values
Of course, we also had to test this portable BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1 SSD drive. During our measurements, we got the highest write value in CrystalDiskMark software of 412.1 MB/s and a read value of up to 431.7 MB/s.
During real file copying to the BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1 (i.e., writing), the speed was around 280 – 300 MB/s. Those are very solid numbers, and if you often copy large batches of files, this kind of peripheral device will definitely come in handy at home. For reading, we got much better results—up to 473 MB/s.
During the test, we tried using the included USB-C adapter with a USB-C port on the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro, as well as the USB 3.0 interface. There was hardly any noticeable difference, and the speeds were mostly the same.
Also includes OTG compatibility
Of course, it supports multiple operating systems such as Windows XP/Vista/7/88.1/10, OS X 10.6, and Linux Kernel 2.6. So you can use it anywhere. It also supports the OTG function, meaning it can serve as storage for your smartphones.
Just get the USB-C adapter ready and connect the drive to your smartphone. To use OTG, of course, your device must support it. Our OnePlus 7T Pro detected BlitzWolf BW-PSSD1 immediately after connecting, and we could copy files.
So there’s really nothing more to say about this peripheral device. It meets everything the manufacturer promised: speed, a compact body, and functional OTG.
Banggood, as the parent company of the BlitzWolf brand, has decided to sell additional capacities of the same SSD drive under different numeric model numbers. On our website, you can also find the slightly larger BlitzWolf BW-PSSD2 drive.
