Source: oneplus.com - Stable ColorOS 17 with Android 17 for OnePlus 15
- For now only in India, Europe without a deadline
- OxygenOS on the phone will be replaced by Oppa’s system
- Don’t update the Chinese version with a flashed OxygenOS
OnePlus has started rolling out a stable ColorOS 17 update based on Android 17 for its flagship OnePlus 15. OnePlus 15 is the first phone from the brand that will get Oppa’s parent-system instead of its own OxygenOS overlay, as the company announced back in the summer. The update is currently arriving only for Indian owners, and if you have a Chinese version with a flashed OxygenOS, we don’t recommend switching to ColorOS.
For now only in India; the global date was 29. October
According to an announcement on the OnePlus forum, the update labeled CPH2745_17.0.0.102(EX01) is being distributed in waves, and OnePlus calls it the start of the global rollout of ColorOS 17. The GSMArena portal notes that OnePlus 15 had a global schedule date of 29 October, so the update arrived a few days earlier.
When owners outside India will get the stable version, OnePlus hasn’t said yet. In October, there was also a beta ongoing for OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 15—also only in India. We wrote about the order in which ColorOS 17 is coming to Oppo phones in our article about the global update schedule.
This only applies to the global version
The update is intended for global versions of the phone that are officially sold in India, Europe, and other regions. If you bought a Chinese OnePlus 15 version, into which the seller flashed the global OxygenOS before shipping, don’t switch to ColorOS 17 and don’t install the update—either manually. You can find such an offer in our article about OnePlus 15 too.
Such a phone originally has Chinese hardware, and the system was modified by the seller—so the official ColorOS update doesn’t account for it and it isn’t safe. If the update fails, you could lose data and, in a worse case, even end up with a non-functional phone. OxygenOS 16 will continue to work on it, so it’s best to stick with it.
Light effects and floating navigation
The most noticeable change is the new design, where the light controls glow when you touch them, stretch out, or bounce away. The lock screen has also been revamped: the clock now transitions from Always-On straight to the home screen. There are also quick settings and a notification panel that’s now more transparent. System apps have received a floating navigation bar, and a new Luminous Rendering Engine takes care of smoothness.

The improved Laminar Flow Engine is meant to reduce stuttering when the RAM is full, and—depending on how you use the phone—it decides which apps to keep running in the background. Sound playback from multiple apps at once is new as well.
AI agent, translator, and protection from scams
Mind Pilot assistant got an Agent mode that can handle more complex tasks on its own, such as sorting photos into albums, renaming files, or creating a collage. OSee, after taking a picture of a document, will make a sharp scan that you can save right away as a PDF or send to your computer. The new Translator app can translate photos, voice, and text.
During calls, the system recognizes a voice created by artificial intelligence, and in a video call, it can also detect a swapped face—so it can warn you about a possible scam. You can find the full list of changes in OnePlus’ announcement, and we analyzed the new system in more detail at its September presentation.
Going back to OxygenOS will wipe the phone
If you have a global OnePlus 15 and you’re not happy with the new system, you can—using OnePlus’ instructions—go back to OxygenOS 16 via a package installed in settings. However, when you return, you’ll lose all data on the phone, so make a backup before both updating and switching back.
OnePlus announced this already in July, when it confirmed that with Android 17 it ends support for its own OxygenOS and all supported phones are moving to Oppa’s ColorOS.
