The popular Chinese brand realme is preparing a global version of its new smartphone, labeled realme GT2. And we already know the expected launch date and the flagship processor that this model should get: Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G.
realme GT2: Will it get the Snapdragon 888 5G processor?
The head of the realme brand, Madhav Sheth, confirmed that after the Chinese launch, the company also plans to release the realme GT2 smartphone series for the European and Indian markets. The series consists of two models: realme GT2 and GT2 Pro. While for the base model we already have additional information thanks to “benchmark” tests from Geekbench.
The Realme GT2 with the code name RMX3311 scored a total of 1127 and 3355 in the Geekbench 5 performance tests. The results of the “Single-core” and “Multi-core” tests suggest high computing performance from this device. The score also reaches the level of last year’s flagship processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G.
It includes one core clocked at 2,84 GHz, three cores clocked at 2,42 GHz, and four cores clocked at 1,80 GHz. The stated amount of RAM is 11 GB. This could indicate a configuration with up to 12 GB of total RAM. However, it’s also likely that additional configurations will be available in stores.
120 Hz AMOLED and a 50 MP Sony camera
Geekbench’s report also reveals that the realme GT2 model will go on sale with the Android 12 operating system. There won’t be a shortage of the manufacturer’s realme UI 3.0 graphics overlay either. The base GT2 model should also offer a 6.62″ 120 Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display, a fingerprint sensor integrated into the screen, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protective glass.
On the back of the smartphone, there should be a 50 MP Sony IMX766 main sensor, which should be complemented by an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a 2 MP macro camera. The front camera will be placed in a display cutout and will have a 16 MP resolution.
However, the GT2 model has also appeared on the SDPPI certification website. It didn’t reveal technical specifications, but it confirms the upcoming official launch in Europe. Previous leaks expected the European version to be released during March 2022, but an Indian press conference officially confirmed the launch of this pair of devices just a few days earlier, specifically on February 28, 2022.
