Realme brings another 5G smartphone, and the X50m model ranks among the most affordable on the market. This very likable Chinese brand is once again trying to spice up its lineup.

The X50 line is essentially Realme’s flagship, so even the base version doesn’t skimp on quality specs. It offers a 120 Hz IPS display, an SD765G processor, 30 W fast charging, a quad 48 MPx camera, and a dual front setup.

A punch-out for the dual dual camera

Realme X50m has a design typical for this company, with an interesting color scheme on the back. It’s available in purple and teal.

The phone measures 75.8 x 163.8 x 8.9 mm and weighs 202 grams. On the side you’ll find a fingerprint sensor, but it doesn’t include an audio jack.

Some people may be bothered by the prominent cutout for the dual selfie camera. There’s a better 16 MPx Sony IMX471 sensor here, paired with a wide-angle 8 MPx sensor with 105°.

120 Hz IPS display

The smartphone offers an up to 120 Hz refresh rate, but it is only an IPS panel. It has a 6.57″ diagonal, FHD+ resolution and a pixel density of 401 ppi.

The screen-to-body ratio is 90.4 %. It’s protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and 2.D bending was also used.

Snapdragon 765G and cooling 3.0

Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 765G processor with improved gaming performance and 5G support. It’s made using a 7 nm process, runs at 2.4 GHz, and is paired with Adreno 620.

The manufacturer also used special cooling in the 3.0 version, shown disassembled in the picture above. It consists of five main steps.

Up to 12 GB RAM, UFS 2.1

LPDDR4X memory has a capacity of 6 and 8 GB. Storage is available only in the 128 GB variant; the used type is UFS 2.1.

Quad 64 MPx camera

The significantly low price didn’t stop Realme from using a quality camera. The sensor lineup is as follows:

  • Main 48 MPx Sony IMX586 sensor, f/ 1.8 aperture, 0.80 µm pixel size, 1/2.25″ sensor size, 6P lenses
  • Wide-angle 8 MPx sensor, f/ 2.3 aperture, 119° field of view, 5P lenses
  • 2 MPx Black & White sensor
  • 2 MPx macro sensor, f/ 2.4 aperture

Video can be recorded in 4K resolution at 30 fps with digital image stabilization (UIS and UIS Max). 1080p video recording is also supported at 60 fps.

4200 mAh and 30 W fast charging

Realme X50m 5G comes with a 4200 mAh battery with support for 30 W fast charging. Charging is done in the usual way via a USB-C connector.

Additional features

As mentioned, the smartphone also supports 5G in dual mode SA/NSA. There’s also NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and features like Wi-Fi Display or Wi-Fi MiMo.

It’s built on Android 10 Q with the Realme UI software layer. It also has 1216 stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, and Dolby Sound.

The price is very low

As we’re used to with Realme, they’re again offering a very low price, which we really like to see. The 6 + 128 GB version starts selling from 1 999 yuan, which is 261 €, and the 8 + 128 GB version from 2 299 yuan, which is 301 €.
