About the brand BLUETTI

Startup BLUETTI was founded in 2019 and focuses on the sustainable future segment. It offers affordable green energy storage solutions for both indoor and outdoor use. In 2022, they filled a big gap in the market when, at the Consumer Technology Association (CES) conference in Las Vegas, they unveiled a sodium-ion solar generator— the first of its kind.

The brand has more than 30 global warehouses, operates in more than 110 countries worldwide, and holds more than 700 patents. It also has several awards.

You can find more information in our article, where we introduced our new cooperation with this brand.

Demo double package

The BLUETTI charging station was delivered to us by a DPD courier in a box measuring XXX cm with a total weight of up to 31kg. So it’s definitely not a lightweight package, but thanks to four carry straps, it was easier to transport.

We really appreciate that the manufacturer ships this product in two boxes for better protection. On top of that, some box edges were additionally protected with thick folded cardboard.

The packaging is also great inside. No polystyrene—just a foam insert shaped precisely to the product. In the upper part, the cables are stored in a practical bag, and under the top foam piece, the charging station itself is already wrapped in another film.

The manufacturer put effort into the packaging quality, so the first impression is very good.

Design and build quality

BLUETTI AC200L has dimensions 42 x 28 x 36.65 cm and a weight of 28.3kg. On the front, you’ll find a power on/off button, sockets and output ports, along with a clear display. We’ll talk about each of the elements in more detail.

On the side, there are also input ports that are used to charge the station itself. You’ll also find two handles at the top, which makes the charging station easier to carry.

All sockets, input and output ports are additionally protected with rubber covers to prevent dirt from getting in. The covers don’t grip the 230V sockets particularly well, but they won’t fall out of the station either, since they’re firmly mounted in it. However, the charging station isn’t water-resistant, so these covers are really meant to protect against dust and similar contaminants. A shame that the rubber covers are a magnet for dirt.

Overall, we’re satisfied with the build quality and design. The only downside is perhaps the high weight, which is, of course, due to the battery’s high capacity.

Inputs and outputs

From the perspective of the input and output ports, the BLUETTI AC200L charging station is equipped very solidly. As we mentioned, on the front there are four classic 230V sockets (10.5A), but they don’t have a grounding pin, because that isn’t standard in every country.

Besides those, you’ll also find other output ports like 2 x 100W USB-C, 2 x 18W USB-A, a 48V / 8A socket and a 12V / 10A socket—the same type you can also find in cars.

If we look at the side of the charging station, you’ll find all the input ports here—so these are used to charge the station itself. The standard input for charging from a wall outlet has a maximum power of 2400W, but besides that, you also have other options.

You can charge the BLUETTI AC200L charging station not only from a car outlet with 12 or 24V, but also using solar panels with a maximum output of 1200W. Another option is a combination of an AC outlet and a solar panel.

Control and display

The charging station is turned on simply by pressing a metal backlit button, and its display lights up immediately. It shows the current capacity as a percentage, along with the input and output power—separately for DC and AC current.

Under the percentage level, you can also see the remaining time until the battery runs out—or until it’s fully charged—depending on the current load/charging. Along the edge of the display, there are several symbols that appear based on the usage of specific functions, for example: AC / DC input or output, Bluetooth, a low-battery warning, low or excessively high temperature, ECO mode, and similar.

If you want to charge something through the BLUETTI AC200L charging station—for example, a smartphone—you simply plug the charger into one of the AC sockets and press the corresponding button, this time the AC button. Only after pressing this button will the smartphone start charging. Similarly, you also have buttons to enable the DC ports or USB.

Capacity and use of the charging station

The BLUETTI AC200L charging station has a capacity of 2048Wh (40Ah) thanks to its LiFePO4 cells. The station’s maximum rated power is 2400W, but it can also provide up to 3000W for two minutes, 3000 – 3600W for 5 seconds, or even more than 3600W, but only for 0.5 seconds. Of course, these power levels are available only via the AC outlets.

The charging station with a capacity slightly above 60% arrived here. After the initial tests, we used it to charge, for example, a JIMMY PW11 Pro Max vacuum cleaner. We started charging it at 58%, and once it was fully charged, we still had 44%. The vacuum cleaner has a 21.6V / 4600 mAh battery.

Next, we charged a Xiaomi Mi Scooter Pro e-scooter. We started charging it at 42%. After topping up the scooter, there was only 9 % left. This Xiaomi e-scooter has a 36V / 12.8Ah battery.

Besides charging various battery-powered appliances, smartphones, and electric bikes and e-scooters, you can also use the charging station for direct power supply. That’s how we tested it on an angle grinder, a leaf blower, a drill, a chainsaw, and also on a vacuum cleaner, a TV, and a kettle. We especially appreciated it in a remote garden or on a construction site—places where we don’t have electricity available.

BLUETTI app

You can also add the BLUETTI AC200L to the BLUETTI app, which lets us access some functions that otherwise can’t be enabled. This includes, for example, fast charging of the station or changing the UPS (backup power) mode. But most importantly, you get a clearer and simpler way to set things up, along with lots of information about usage and the charging station’s status.

The app allows connection to WiFi networks, which are available only after registration and login, or alternatively via direct Bluetooth connection without registration.

The device’s home screen essentially shows the same information as the display. Below it, you’ll find switches to turn individual outputs on or off, model information, and various graphs with statistics based on usage.

The most interesting are probably the settings where you can find the individual functions and modes that we’ll cover during the review.

Multiple modes

The BLUETTI AC200L offers an ECO mode as well as a Power Lifting mode. ECO mode is pre-set by the manufacturer and helps save energy. If the output drops below the 10W threshold and stays at that level for 4 hours, the charging station will disconnect the device.

So this mode isn’t suitable for devices with a consistently low power draw. It’s available for both AC and DC outputs. In the app, we can change the default settings. You can choose from 10 to 40W and a time of 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours.

Another mode is the Power Lifting Mode, designed for high-power devices such as heaters, lights, or electric kettles. In this mode, the charging station can provide up to 3600W, even if only temporarily, just as we described above.

Charging BLUETTI AC200L

When charging the station itself, we have several ways to power it up. The most common method is to connect it directly to a household outlet. Using this method, the battery was charged from 9% to 100% in about an hour and a half. It was charging with power of 1200W and after one hour of charging, we already had 66% available. This is the standard charging mode.

There’s also Turbo charging (2400W), which gets you to a capacity of 80% in just 45 minutes. Third, there’s a quiet charging mode with a power of 800W. Other ways to recharge the charging station include connecting it to a solar panel, plugging it into a car outlet, or charging it via a generator or directly from the car battery—but for that you’ll need optional accessories that aren’t included in the standard package.

You can easily charge the BLUETTI AC200L charging station at home or on the go from your car.

UPS mode

Another feature of the BLUETTI AC200L charging station is the so-called UPS mode. It can work as a backup power source in case of a power outage.

There are up to four UPS modes available, which you can find in the app. In the first mode, Standard, the power station is continuously powered from the mains, so in the event of a power outage it has full capacity available to power your devices.

The second mode is called Time Control UPS. It can be set so that the power station charges during off-peak night-time electricity, when the tariff is cheaper, and during daytime electricity it provides power to connected devices.

The third mode is PV Priority UPS. It’s for those who have a solar panel available, because in this mode the BLUETTI AC200L uses primarily solar energy for charging. The last mode is fully customizable in the app.

Accessories you can buy separately

As we’ve mentioned several times already, you can buy a solar panel for the BLUETTI AC200L power station to charge it using solar energy. The solar panels are connected in series and must meet the following parameters: 12 – 145V, max 15A and max output 1200W.

If the power station’s capacity isn’t enough for you, you can significantly expand it with additional expansion batteries from BLUETTI. You can connect two B210 batteries to the BLUETTI AC200L station, which increases capacity by another 4300Wh, or two B300s (5529.6Wh), or one B230 battery (2048Wh).

BLUETTI AC200L: Final assessment

The BLUETTI AC200L charging station will keep you covered during power outages, or it’s also a great choice anywhere you don’t have access to electricity. Whether it’s a campsite, a construction site, or your garden, it has its use in many places.

You’ll appreciate the high capacity of 2048Wh, a rated output of 2400W with short-term power up to 3600W, app control from your smartphone, a UPS mode, a clear display, and lots of input and output ports.

The only downside is probably the high weight and larger dimensions, which are, however, appropriate for the capacity it offers. For outdoor use, we’d also appreciate waterproofing, which is missing here.

If we’ve convinced you to buy this very high-quality power station, you can do so through the official Bluetti store, which offers an above-standard warranty and also the best price in Europe!
