Honor 400 Pro is a smartphone officially sold on the Slovak market. It sells for 749 €, and during a sale you can get it for just under 700 €. Compared with our HK version, though, it has two major differences: a 700 mAh smaller battery and, at the time of writing, it is more than 200 € more expensive. Those are such noticeable differences that in our opinion, buying the other version isn’t even worth it. So we tested the Honor 400 Pro with this better configuration and at a lower price; here is our review.
Where to buy it?
You can find the Honor 400 Pro 5G smartphone on AliExpress from verified sellers, including the original 100 W charger. It’s located directly in a European warehouse, which means very fast delivery in as little as a week and no extra fees!
This is the Hong Kong version of the smartphone with full support for our networks (source). It supports all the required Google Play services, including the Google Play app store, contactless payments, B20 LTE, and it also has SK/CZ language. A big plus is the larger 6000 mAh battery (compared to 5300 mAh in the global version) and the 100 W Honor charger in the box (UK plug, the seller will send an adapter)!

Package contents
In a large white box, a smart phone is hidden: Honor 400 Pro, a 100 W charging adapter. The seller will also include the appropriate adapter for using it in European power outlets, a white USB-A to USB-C cable, essential technical documentation with a brief manual, and a tool for removing the pair of nanoSIM cards. You also get a clear silicone case, and on the display you’ll find a pre-applied protective film – a step from the manufacturer we have to praise every single time.
Design and build
At first glance, Honor 400 Pro looks like a flagship in the true sense of the word. Its design is elegant, precise, and minimalist, with the most eye-catching element being the intriguingly shaped camera module on the back. The manufacturer placed it vertically in the upper-left corner. The physically larger, primary lens looks quite extravagant and sits in the middle, shifted further to the right. Above and below it, along the left edge, you’ll find smaller lenses – specifically, an ultra-wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens.
Compared to the competition, the individual sensors don’t stick out from the device body quite as noticeably. The glass back has a matte finish that does a great job resisting fingerprints, and combined with the slightly rounded edges, the device feels great in your hand. In our view, this is truly top-tier design. When you turn the phone so the display faces you, you’ll get yet another delightful look—its screen is gently curved across all four edges.
It features minimalist bezels, and in the middle of the top part there’s a small “pill” reminiscent of the iPhone’s Dynamic Island. However, it’s incomparably smaller and houses a pair of sensors: one is the front “selfie” camera, complemented by a second sensor designed for improved face-based unlocking. Such a rounded smartphone with a relatively slim body is simply a joy to hold. The feel is premium, and if you want your phone to stand out from the crowd, Honor 400 Pro is definitely the way to go.
The frame is plastic, but it feels high-quality to the touch. The smartphone weighs 205 grams, so it’s no featherlight device—yet the weight is distributed evenly. It feels more expensive than you might expect for a device in this price range. We also appreciate the enhanced durability rated with IP68 and IP69, meaning it won’t mind dust or even brief immersion in water. In this respect, it’s also one of the most rugged models in its class.
Display, sound and unlocking
The display is one of the main highlights of the Honor 400 Pro. It’s a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and support for HDR Vivid. It supports 10-bit color depth, and the color rendering is genuinely vivid—the screen is definitely something you’ll enjoy. Touch response is always reliable, and the rounded edges don’t get in the way—in fact, they add to the phone’s aesthetics and modern look. You can also thank the narrow, symmetrical bezels around the display.
The manufacturer lists a maximum panel brightness of up to 5000 nits, which we couldn’t replicate in practice, but even in direct sunlight the readability is excellent. Contrast, color saturation, and image sharpness are at a very high level—this is one of the best displays in this category. The display also supports high-frequency 3840 Hz PWM dimming, so the image doesn’t flicker even at low brightness, which you’ll especially appreciate when using it in the evening.
The bezels are thin and symmetrical, with the front camera discreetly placed at the top. In the settings, you’ll find plenty of options, from color temperature and a natural tones mode to a dynamic refresh rate. The audio performance is very solid. The pair of stereo speakers gets loud enough, with clear mids and surprisingly strong bass. You can enjoy music even without headphones, though it won’t be ideal, of course. For more demanding listeners, the best choice is clearly the Bluetooth output supporting codecs aptX HD and LDAC.
Honor 400 Pro stands out with advanced unlocking using face recognition that works reliably even in the dark. It’s a very fast alternative to an in-display fingerprint scanner, which will still be safer overall. Its speed is above average, and unlocking typically worked on the first try—exactly as it should.
Performance, memory, and the operating system
Power is handled by the powerful chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 built on 4 nm technology. Combined with 12 GB RAM and a fast UFS 4.0 storage drive with a capacity of 512 GB, it’s a setup that can handle everything from everyday multitasking to demanding games. In benchmark tests, it delivers results comparable to last year’s flagship phones.
The MagicOS 9 overlay, based on the Android 15 operating system, is one of those feature-packed graphical interfaces that are also similar to iOS. MagicOS 9 in this case is very fast, smooth, and also nicely customizable. Animations are subtle, the response is instant, and everything feels extremely well-tuned. Thanks to system optimization, Honor 400 Pro can maintain high performance even during longer use without overheating.
Honor promises up to 6 major Android updates and 7 years of security patches, which is very exceptional in this category. In everyday use, the system is lightning fast and handles switching between multiple apps well. There’s also the well-known split-screen mode, floating windows, and advanced battery management. The system includes lots of preinstalled apps, but you can uninstall them.

AI functions
Let’s move on to the AI features. We’ll mention right away that the image editing features only work after connecting to the internet, so the entire or vast majority of the processing happens on the server side. That said, it doesn’t matter to us that much as long as the result is satisfying. And we have to admit that Honor’s AI is, among the competition in the form of Google, Samsung, Apple, or Oppo, the best… Just judge for yourself.
When you select multiple photos in the gallery, with one button that appears automatically, you can ask AI to create an instant video for you. Available features include AI recommendations, Magic Text for easy copying, Magic Portal, which lets you circle any content with your fingertip joints, create a screenshot of it, and immediately send it somewhere, AI subtitles, AI translation, call translation, AI writing, or AI deepfake content detection.
Worth noting is Intelligent Capture, which checks whether you’re looking at the device. With your gaze, you can even increase the ringtone volume or activate Always On display, or intelligently rotate the screen orientation based on the angle you’re viewing the display from. Last but not least, you’ll also like the air gestures you can use to control the phone without touching it. It really works, but you’ll probably have to come up with your own practical example of how to use it… Honor 400 Pro is clearly one of the smartest smartphones we’ve had the chance to test, sharing those premium AI features with the flagship Honor Magic7 Pro.

Cameras
Honor 400 Pro comes with a triple rear camera setup, the main highlight being the 200 MPx main sensor with an aperture of f/1.9, optical image stabilization (OIS), and PDAF autofocus. The results during the day are very nice, almost “Instagram-ready”. They can be enhanced quite a bit and are processed with software. However, they contain plenty of details.
The results offer a high dynamic range, vivid colors, and evenly sharp details. The camera app provides several distinct effects and three basic styles – natural, energetic, and authentic. We shot all of our test photos using the natural mode, with only the appropriately labeled shots from the gallery below as exceptions.
The 50 MP telephoto lens with 3× optical zoom handles portraits and more distant scenes. In our case, we ran into focus and proper exposure issues in cloudy conditions. This is something that can be fixed with an update, assuming it is not a hardware fault of our specific unit. Once you go beyond 30x zoom, you get the option to use AI Zoom, meaning artificial beautification / guessing what is actually in the zoomed-in shot.
The output is clearly processed, but when it’s good, it looks better than those “a few pixels” that remain after 50x hybrid zoom, which Honor 400 Pro supports at most. Sometimes it adds nonsense, but you’re probably counting on that if you have experience with AI-generated images. The ultra-wide-angle lens with a resolution of 12 MPx and autofocus provides a wide 112-degree field of view and is suitable for photographing landscapes or architecture. In weaker light, though, this case shows the most noticeable loss of detail.
At night, every lens generally loses quality and the competition can take better photos in poor lighting conditions. Night shots are soft, easily blurred, and fine details are simply missing in some parts of the image. We do have to praise the automatically activated night mode for maintaining realistic colors, good contrast, and only a small amount of digital noise. Despite a few shortcomings, we would call the primary camera of the Honor 400 Pro usable at night. By the way, it can also shoot in its native 200 MP resolution, which you can use, for example, for cropping without a significant loss of quality.
The front camera with 50 MP resolution and an additional 2 MP depth sensor is among the best in this class. Photos are sharp, with natural skin tones and excellent dynamic range. Thanks to 4K video support, you can shoot vlogs or make video calls in high quality. The Honor 400 Pro can shoot 4K video at 60 fps with optical image stabilization (OIS), and you can switch from the primary sensor to the 3x telephoto lens while recording, even at this resolution. In combination with digital stabilization (gyro-EIS), it can eliminate shake very convincingly. The overall result is smooth and clean. Content creators also get the option to shoot in HDR mode, while colors remain natural and without exaggerated saturation.

Battery and charging
Honor 400 Pro in the global version has a Si/C battery with a capacity of 5300 mAh, which delivers solid battery life. However, thanks to our special offer, you can get the HK version with a 6000 mAh Si/C battery pack, which has a significantly higher capacity while keeping the same dimensions.
With normal everyday use, you can expect 1.5 to 2 days on a single charge, which is an excellent result even for a flagship smartphone. Thanks to system optimization MagicOS, power consumption is minimal even with the Always-On display enabled. Despite the display with a high maximum brightness, after one hour of watching videos on YouTube, the phone only dropped by 6 % from the remaining battery level.
In practice, we were able to get roughly 8 hours of SOT (Screen On Time) over 1.5 days. This is also helped by the minimal battery drain during inactivity. The system uses an aggressive management of background processes. Sometimes it’s so aggressive that we didn’t receive some notifications, for example on Slack. If something like this happens to you, you’ll need to manually turn off background optimization for the specific app in the settings.
In our case, it was a 2-day smartphone during days when we were spending more time at the computer. In a single day, we almost never ran it out, and the battery typically offered about 1.5 days of endurance even despite heavier usage caused by performance testing and taking photos. Supported is fast 100 W wired charging, which can charge the battery to 50% in about 15 minutes and top it up in roughly 40 minutes.

It also includes 50 W wireless charging, and even reverse wireless charging, so you can top up things like your earbuds or smart watch directly from it. Luckily, the charger is still included in the box, which is becoming a rarer and rarer sight these days. Charging from 6% to 100% went like this:
- 5 minutes – 27 %
- 10 minutes – 41 %
- 20 minutes – 69 %
- 30 minutes – 93 %
- 35 minutes – 100 %
Connectivity
In terms of connectivity, Honor 400 Pro is top-tier. It offers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC for contactless payments, infraport for controlling your home electronics, and precise location thanks to GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BDS. The USB-C port is type 2.0, so data transfer isn’t the fastest, but for everyday use it’s not really a major drawback.

Of course, it also supports eSIM and dual SIM mode (nanoSIM + nanoSIM / nanoSIM + eSIM). While streaming music to Bluetooth headphones, we didn’t notice any dropouts while moving around a fairly large fitness center. Some other models had issues with that; Honor 400 Pro, as one of the few, did not.
Final verdict
Honor 400 Pro is a smartphone that isn’t afraid to stand up to even more expensive flagship devices. It delivers an excellent display with 5000 nits brightness, a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, fast 100 W charging, and very solid cameras with up to 200 MPx resolution. It also stands out thanks to its build quality, IP68/IP69 durability, and a modern MagicOS 9 system with long-term software support.
Weak points are minimal. It could have a faster USB-C, at night the camera loses a bit of quality, the frame is plastic (though it definitely doesn’t look cheap), and the telephoto lens sometimes struggles to focus. But these are just minor issues, which in the context of the price around €550 don’t matter much—assuming the telephoto problems only affected this particular unit.
If you’re looking for an elegant, powerful, and reliable smartphone that handles everything from gaming to professional-level photography, Honor 400 Pro is right now one of the most sensible choices on the market. In this class, it delivers an excellent price-to-performance ratio, and it truly earns our recommendation—especially for the HK version with a 6 000 mAh battery and a noticeably lower price compared to offers from Slovak e-shops.
