ZTE Axon 11 5G gets a hyperbolic curved display, interesting specs, and a great price

25. March 2020 3 min read 0 comments

The Chinese company ZTE is responding to market developments and is introducing its new smartphone with support for the fastest 5G network. At the same time, it isn’t equipped with top-of-the-line components.

The ZTE Axon 11 is mainly meant to be a 5G-enabled smartphone with an affordable price. That’s why the manufacturer chose cheaper components than the Snapdragon 765G or even older LPDDR4X RAM modules.

Specs summary:

  • 6.47″ IPS FHD+ curved display
  • In-display fingerprint sensor
  • Snapdragon 765G, Adreno 620
  • 6 / 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM
  • 128 / 256 GB UFS 2.1 storage
  • 5G network support
  • 64 MPx quad camera
  • 20 MPx front camera
  • 4K video
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • 18 fast charging
  • Android 10 Q

Hyperbolic curved display

Just like the Oppo Find X series or OnePlus 7 smartphones, it comes with a curved display on the edges. That way, manufacturers achieve a slimmer look for the phone despite possibly being thicker.

It has a size of 6.47 inches and full HD+ resolution. On top there’s a so-called drop notch, a cut-out for the 20 MPx Samsung S5K3T1 sensor.

The phone’s design follows newer trends, and we can see the curved edges as well as the back. 4 sensors are placed in a square.

It’s only 7.9 mm thick and weighs 168 grams, putting it among the lightest 5G devices of all.

Quad camera

The main sensor is 64 MPx and it’s Samsung Bright S5KGW1. It measures 1/1.72″ with an aperture of ƒ/ 1.89. The other sensors are 8, 2 and 2 MPx, so it includes an ultra-wide, macro, and depth sensor as well.

It can record 4K video and slow motion at 240 fps. The ultra-wide sensor has a viewing angle of 120°, capturing much more.

Not top-tier specs

As we already mentioned, the best isn’t inside. The Snapdragon 765G processor is a compromise for 5G and a low price.

It’s available with 6 / 8 GB RAM and 128 / 256 GB UFS 2.1 storage. It has a 4000 mAh battery, which is the minimum you basically need these days.

It also supports fast 18W charging, has USB-C, but lacks NFC or an audio jack. It includes a hybrid dual SIM slot, a new Bluetooh 5.1, or an in-display fingerprint sensor.

What’s the price?

The 6 + 128 GB variant will start selling on the domestic market at 2698 yuan, which is 353 € / 9785 CZK. The 8 + 256 GB version will go from 2998 yuan, i.e. about 393 € / 10 865 CZK.

The last 8 + 256 GB version is sold from 3998 yuan, i.e. 445 € / 12 315 CZK. It was unveiled for the Chinese market, and we’ll definitely inform you about its global availability.
