The popular YouTube channel Mrwhosetheboss regularly brings various interesting things from the world of technology, especially smartphones. This time, they looked at 7 of the strangest smartphones in the world.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom: Phone or camera?

This model comes from 2013 and came with the Android 4.2.2 operating system. From the front, it looks like a typical smartphone from that time, but the back is completely different. It’s more like a camera than a phone. There’s even a xenon flash and a 10-x optical zoom.

NoPhone: When your phone gets boring

Do you feel the need to keep your smartphone with you at all times? Most people will say yes. Want to be less dependent on it? Probably yes. Then here’s the solution: a device that looks like a smartphone, but it isn’t one. It has a 0 Mpix camera, 0 GB storage, and it’s even a 0 % phone. Nice try.

The manufacturer later even introduced a successor — NoPhone Air. “Device” arrived in a retail package that contained nothing. In fact, it contained exactly this model — air. As a joke, it was quite good.

OBI MV1: A phone inside a phone?

Developed by former Apple executive director John Sculley. Back when cheap smartphones had very little to offer—whether from the software or hardware side. The OBI MV1 was different. With a rounded bottom and a squared-off top, it looked a bit odd.

Overall, the device looks like a phone stored in a weird, angular case. It was definitely something different, something never seen before. It wouldn’t get lost even in today’s times.

K1 IMPULSE: The safest phone in the world

The smartphone came with a rich set of accessories in a very nice box. The bottom part of the device was literally cut out, so the user could slide one of the special keys that were included in the package.

The main problem was that it somehow didn’t work. On the one hand there was a phone that acted as the safest one, but on the other hand you couldn’t use basic features on it — Gmail, social media apps, or importing contacts.

Turing Phone

A very interesting design piece that consists of multiple parts. They even have different surfaces. The manufacturer claims that “liquid morpheum” was used to make the smartphone. This phone was supposed to offer better specs than the flagship models of the time (2015) and also be maximally secure. As you probably already guessed, it wasn’t met with success.

Vivo X5 Max: The thinnest smartphone in the world

Getting this model wasn’t easy at all. It’s no longer made and it isn’t sold anymore. What is a thin smartphone? For example, the iPhone 12 Mini is only 7,4 mm thick and is among the thinnest. The Vivo X5 Max is just 4,75 mm thick. One of its most interesting features, considering its thickness, is that it also includes a 3,5 mm audio jack.

What does that mean? If the manufacturer wants to put a 3,5 mm jack into the phone, then it can do that. Everything else is just excuses. The thinnest smartphone in the world is from 2015, so you can basically forget about bezel-less displays and similar trends.
