OnePlus 10 Ultra: “Super smartphone” in prototype testing
Even though OnePlus 10 Pro was introduced as a new flagship smartphone only a few weeks ago, fresh leaks suggest that OnePlus is working on an even more powerful “super-smartphone.” The device should go head-to-head with top models like Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, while also delivering even better photo results than the current “Pro” model.
Right from the first pieces of leak information comes the expected name of this device. We should see the OnePlus 10 Ultra branding. And for the first time in the brand’s lineup, we’d get a model that sits higher in the hierarchy than the “Pro” model.
The information comes from a source called Yogesh Brar, who via the social network Twitter revealed that OnePlus is preparing its ultra flagship smartphone. The device is said to currently be in the “EVT” (Engineering Verification Testing) phase, which means it’s expected to be unveiled in the coming months. This type of testing is typically carried out on prototypes in the early stages of preparation.
Collaboration with OPPO is also included
After the aforementioned testing comes testing of the device’s design itself. Then comes testing of the product as such, after which the smartphone is internally declared ready for launch. The Twitter post also mentions the steadily growing integration and collaboration between the OnePlus and OPPO. brands. Both brands belong to the parent company BBK Electronics.
What’s more, the OPPO Find X5 device series has already introduced a collaboration with Hasselblad. This was typically an exclusive partnership for OnePlus, similar to what we saw with the OnePlus 9 series devices. And in return, the display chip MariSilicon NPU developed “in-house” by OPPO could also appear in a OnePlus flagship smartphone in the second half of 2022.
A top-tier, AI-powered specialized NPU chip enables much faster image processing on devices equipped with it. As a result, it also improves the quality of captured photos and videos. However, we still don’t have confirmed information about the presence of this NPU chip in the OnePlus 10 Ultra device specs. More details should come out in some of the upcoming leak reports.
