Before the official launch, Honor already reveals the key feature of its new flagship Magic8 Pro. That’s a 200 MP telephoto lens, designed to deliver not only extremely detailed shots, but also a brand-new level of image stabilization. According to the brand, this is the first smartphone on the market with CIPA-certified image stabilization at 5.5 EV.
200 MP camera with a large sensor and advanced optics
The camera is built around a 1/1.4″ sized sensor, which, together with an f/2.6 aperture, can capture plenty of light even in tougher conditions. This high resolution isn’t just “on paper” — it should enable clean, sharp details even when digitally zooming in. With improved stabilization, you can shoot with longer exposure times without image blur. Ideal for evening city scenes or night portraits without a tripod.
At the core, the brand’s proprietary image engine, the AIMAGE Nox Engine, adjusts exposure, autofocus, and colors in real time. Even though you won’t see it in action, it’s exactly what delivers fast response and “intelligent” shots.
Powerful hardware under the hood
At the heart of the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 — currently the most powerful chipset from Qualcomm. Honor pairs it with up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB of storage, so you’re getting true high-end performance without compromises. Battery life is handled by a 7000 mAh battery with support for 120 W wired and wireless charging.
Even though competitors often cut back on the battery or performance in photo-smartphones, the Magic8 Pro goes all in across every direction. With this battery, it’ll be one of the longest-lasting flagship smartphones on the market today.
It comes with MagicOS 10 and Android 16
The official unveiling of the Honor Magic8 Pro is scheduled for October 15, and along with it comes a completely new version of the user interface MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. You can look forward to better cross-device connectivity, smoother animations, and new AI features — especially within the camera.
Honor wants to show that AI can help not only in advanced use cases — we expect intelligent environment adaptation based on the user, as well as scene analysis-level features when taking photos or videos.
More specifications and leaked information
Besides the main telephoto lens, a trio of sensors is expected on the back — a 50 MP main sensor, 50 MP ultra-wide, and the aforementioned 200 MP telephoto lens. On top of that, there’s a 144 Hz LTPO OLED display with adaptive refresh rate, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, and efficient cooling for demanding gaming sessions.
This full package sounds like the perfect setup not only for creators and photography enthusiasts, but also for gamers or power users who want the maximum from every aspect of the smartphone.
Honor Magic8 beats Xiaomi 17 Pro in the AnTuTu benchmark
The Honor Magic8 hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it’s already showing just how strong a competitor it is. In the AnTuTu benchmark v11, the smartphone reached a respectable score of 4 166 339 points, placing it among today’s highest-performance devices. The result breaks down into 1 213 845 points for the CPU, 1 468 351 for the GPU, 570 553 for memory, and 913 590 for the user experience (UX).
For comparison, the Xiaomi 17 Pro with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset scored “only” 3 749 435 points — over 400 thousand less. This is clear proof that Honor has tuned both the software and the cooling system at a top level, and wants to shuffle the cards strongly in the market again.
