What was expected has become reality, and the flagship smartphone series Huawei Mate 50 has been officially launched on the Chinese market. This series includes the Huawei Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design models. A mid-range smartphone is also expected to be part of the new lineup, labeled Huawei Mate 50e, with a Snapdragon 778G (4G) processor.

In this article, however, we’ll take a closer look at the two top-tier premium models Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS Porsche Design. These smartphones have nearly identical technical specifications. However, Porsche Design adds an even more luxurious design, more RAM, and a different camera module setup.

The smartphones impress at first glance, from the front. Both devices offer a curved display, a high-quality metal build, and for design differences, we need to move to the back. The rear camera module of the Mate 50 Pro has a round shape with three cameras and an LED flash. The Mate 50 RS Porsche Design will feature a ceramic back panel and an octagonal-shaped camera module. It is said to resemble the dynamic design of super sports cars.

And the panel itself offers an in-display fingerprint reader beneath the screen surface.

Performance is handled by the current latest Snapdragon processor, labeled Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (Huawei supports only 4G). While the Mate 50 Pro comes with 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB / 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage, the Mate 50 RS Porsche Design takes these specs even further.
