The Chinese manufacturer Huawei has introduced new smartwatches Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro. They will feature a new HarmonyOS system or a sensor for measuring body temperature. There won’t be a shortage of original accessories in the form of optional straps, too.
Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro: Another generation of popular smartwatches
The first Huawei Watch models were officially unveiled as far back as 2015. Now a new generation is coming under the Huawei Watch 3 label, bringing some practical features from the competition as well. The main new feature is the rotating crown with a patterned edge, which offers more functions for controlling the system itself.
The watch case is made of 316L stainless steel with a glossy finish. The front is covered with a 3D curved protective glass. Right underneath it, there’s a 1.43″ AMOLED display with a 60 Hz refresh rate, brightness up to 1000 nits, and the resulting smoothness at 326 ppi.
Fitness functions, i.e. sports activities, will be supported, along with detailed pairing with a smartphone, including eSIM. The new widgets for weather and stock-market updates are a plus, but also for a music player and more. There will also be an integrated Huawei Card service for loading a payment card into the watch, but it will most likely not be available in Europe—only in China for now.
The watches will support a set of sensors, including heart-rate measurement and even body-temperature measurement. The integrated battery ensures standard and average battery life of 14 days (21 days in power-saving mode, 7 days in smart mode). An advantage is the integrated microphone and speaker, enabling phone calls and the support of additional third-party apps from the AppGallery store.
There won’t be a lack of watch faces and various versions with leather and silicone straps either. Automatic recognition of 6 sports activities will be a nice bonus, along with a remote camera shutter function or support for controlling selected smart devices from supported manufacturers.
The manufacturer has also prepared a more luxurious version for us: Watch 3 Pro, available in Classic and Elite versions. One comes with a leather strap, and the other with a metal strap. You’ll appreciate the significant improvement in GPS signal localization accuracy and the sapphire screen glass. The back of this version is also ceramic.
Price and availability of the products
Pre-sale of new smartwatches Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro starts in China today. The actual sale will then kick off on 11. June 2021 at selected retailers. These are the prices for the individual versions:

- Huawei Watch 3 Pro za 3299 juanov (423 € / 516 USD)
- Replacement original straps in various materials for 199 – 399 yuan (25 – 52 € / 31 – 62 USD)
