The company OnePlus, starting from the model OnePlus 3 from 2016, has been releasing the T model just a few months after the flagship as well. It always brings certain improvements compared to the original model. This year, however, we won’t be getting devices with the T Pro label either—and it might not be a bad thing at all.
We won’t see the OnePlus 8T Pro this year
Last year, OnePlus came with models OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, when it wasn’t about an upgraded T model for the first time. Even though the models from the 7 series eventually got the T model later, this year it should be different. The T model should get only the classic OnePlus 8.
The base—and so far the only—model in the form of OnePlus 8T should feature a 6,55“ Full HD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

It also shouldn’t miss out on the Snapdragon 865 Plus, 8 GB of RAM, or Android 11 at launch. The upgraded main camera sensor should also be improved.
A well-known leaker with the nickname Max J said that this year we won’t see the more powerful model in the form of OnePlus 8T Pro. In his Twitter post, he shared an image with the text Kebab2, which is crossed out.
For clarification, this is the code name of the smartphone. The classic model OnePlus 8T is labeled Kebab, whereas OnePlus 8T Pro, which will never see the light of day has Kebab2.
For a bit of trivia, last year, for smartphones OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro, they used the code name hotdog. For OnePlus 5, for example, it was cheeseburger.

This year, OnePlus has already managed to release flagship smartphones OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, along with OnePlus Nord, which belongs to the mid-range. The next smartphone in the form of OnePlus 8T should be another one we should be seeing later this year as well.
Will OxygenOS keep its quality?
Despite the variety of smartphones, though, OnePlus should also focus on software support, which it might neglect given how quickly it’s releasing new phones.
So far, however, it’s only unofficial and unconfirmed information from a leaker that’s still considered reliable, but it’s still not a direct link from OnePlus itself. The absence of OnePlus 8T Pro is expected mainly because OnePlus 8T should bring all the necessary upgrades.
In that case, the 8T Pro model would no longer have anything to offer—or it would be only very minimal, or even pointless.
