Global ROM is originally the Chinese version with a global system preinstalled. It’s a fully usable smartphone in other countries, including access to our mobile networks and local languages.
Notice: Banggood and Trading Shenzen sell Chinese versions with a global system preinstalled (labeled as global ROM in the price box). It supports all of our mobile networks. The Chinese OnePlus 9 version differs in 3 parameters (no wireless charging, different weight and dimensions); everything else is the same.
Our review
OnePlus 9 Pro
For the most demanding users, OnePlus has introduced the OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone. The device offers uncompromising specs that, combined with one of the best skins on the market, create an irresistible combo.
OnePlus 9 Pro is available on the market in 3 beautiful color finishes: black, silver, and green. They really suit each of them, and we’re sure everyone will find their cup of coffee. The smartphone measures 163,2 × 73,6 × 8,7 millimeters and weighs 197 grams.
Premium display
OnePlus once again pushed the limits when it comes to the display panel. On the front, it boasts a 6.7″ Fluid LTPO AMOLED display with Quad HD+ resolution, brightness up to 1300 nits, and a refresh rate of 1Hz – 120 Hz, support for 10-bit colors and HDR10+. The sampling rate tops out at 240 Hz.
The smartphone runs Android on the latest version 11 together with the popular OxygenOS 11 custom skin. In the system you’ll find many useful features, backed by truly impressive optimization.
Top-end performance
Under the hood, the smartphone has Qualcomm’s most powerful processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G. It’s paired with 8 / 12 GB RAM and 128 / 256 GB internal storage.
As for the cameras, the spotlight goes to the 48 MPx Sony IMX789 main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and built-in optical stabilization. The wide-angle lens offers 50 MPx resolution and focusing from a distance of 4 centimeters.
Finally, there’s also a telephoto lens with a resolution of 8 MPx and 3.3x optical zoom, plus a 2 MPx monochrome sensor. The front selfie camera in the top-left cutout has a resolution of 16 MPx.
Thanks to a powerful Snapdragon 888 5G processor, the smartphone can record videos in up to 8K resolution at 30 FPS and in 4K at 120 FPS. There are also plenty of video recording modes that let you take your video quality to the next level.
You can’t miss the new collaboration with Hasselblad, a leading camera manufacturer, through which the camera quality on both smartphones is at a very high level. The main advantage of this partnership is professional color calibration, delivering truly accurate color reproduction.
The Pro model will feature a 4500 mAh battery that ensures impressive battery life. There’s also ultra-fast 65 W wired charging, which charges the battery from 0 to 100% in just 29 minutes, along with 50 W wireless charging. It also includes reverse wireless charging for charging another device, but the manufacturer doesn’t mention it on the official website, and we also don’t know its power.
OnePlus 9
There isn’t that much difference between the two siblings. In the following lines, we’ll describe the most important ones, so you can clearly tell the base model apart from the Pro model.
More compact of the two
The display size drops from 6.7″ to a compact 6.55″, which will definitely suit plenty of fans of smaller phones. The display resolution has also been reduced—specifically, it’s now Full HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels).
Device dimensions and weight differ from the version. The one for Europe and North America has 160 x 74.2 x 8.7 mm and 192 grams (because of the presence of wireless charging), while the version for China and India is 160 x 73.9 x 8.1 mm and 183 grams.
Performance and memory configurations remain the same, and there aren’t many changes even in the cameras. The selfie camera has a 16 MPx resolution and an f/2.4 aperture. The rear main and ultra-wide sensors are also unchanged, using the same 48 MPx and 50 MPx sensors. The trio is completed by the same 2 MPx monochrome lens. Support for 8K video is, of course, included.
The battery in the OnePlus 9 smartphone has the same capacity—4500 mAh—which, with excellent optimization from OnePlus, gives you long battery life. Wired charging reaches a maximum power of 65 W and wireless charging of 15 W (only the Europe and North America version).
Both smartphones will finally offer the latest technologies, such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, support for 5G networks, or an NFC chip for contactless payments. The equipment is truly packed, and there are really many improvements over the 8. generation.
Official prices for Europe:
Over the past few years, OnePlus has quickly matured into a full-fledged manufacturer and it’s no longer about killing flagship phones. However, the prices for the specs mentioned above are still excellent.
