Oppo is one of the brands that keeps a large part of its flagship production in-house. In the main manufacturing plant on the outskirts of Shenzhen, new Find X9 series smartphones are also made, and YouTuber Scotty from the Strange Parts channel got the chance to go inside and film the entire process. One SMT line here can produce about 400 basic boards per hour, the factory runs at 24/7, and the defect rate stays below 0,2 %, which is absolutely incredible for such a complex product.
From bare circuit board to a “sandwich” base board
Production of every Find X9 starts on an SMT line (Surface Mount Technology). On clean PCB boards, solder paste is applied using laser-cut stencils, which later forms connections between the board and the components. Then come extremely fast pick-and-place machines that place thousands of tiny components into precisely defined positions. Some resistors and capacitors of type 015 are only slightly thicker than a human hair—people can practically not even pick them up with tweezers.
To fit the biggest possible battery into the thin flagship smartphone body, Oppo uses a “sandwich” construction for the main board—instead of one board, there are three PCB layers stacked on top of each other. Between the individual layers, the machines inject thermal paste, which Scotty compared to filling a pastry with jam. The whole block then goes through a melting oven with a nitrogen atmosphere, where the solder melts without oxidation. The result is very reliable electronics with an efficiency of around 99,8 % of functional boards.
Automated testing, software, and chip protection
As soon as the main board is finished, it moves to the next part of the line, where the operating system and a special test software are loaded onto it. The phone connects to automated testers that check the functionality of all interfaces—from the USB port to the sensor chips, as well as communication with the display and memory. A separate chapter is the radio section: special chambers measure the performance and sensitivity of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile networks to make sure Find X9 keeps a stable signal everywhere.
The biggest chips—like the processor or memory modules—get additional protection. Epoxy resin (the so-called underfill) is injected into the space under the chips’ bottom side, filling the gap between the chip package and the board. When you drop the phone, that layer spreads the impact and prevents microcracks in the soldered joints. It’s a detail users will never see, but it has a major effect on the device’s long-term reliability.
Display, plasma, and water resistance IP69
In the next hall, the internal electronics meet the outer casing. Before the display is attached to the frame, it’s treated with a plasma discharge. The plasma removes microscopic dust and simultaneously chemically “activates” the surface, so the adhesive bonds better. The result is a stronger connection and improved resistance to water and dust. For a flagship-class series like Find X9, every micrometer of sealing matters.
Water resistance with IP69 certification isn’t taken lightly here. Each phone is “inflated” with compressed air, and the machine monitors whether there’s any pressure leakage. If the sensors detect even small leaks, the unit is sent aside for repair. In the same phase, camera modules are also installed, including the periscope telephoto lens that guides light deeper into the smartphone body through a mirror. This is how Oppo can deliver long optical zoom inside a thin body without a thick layer on the back.
Eight-hour “torture” testing and calibration of every single pixel
After complete assembly, the finished units go through a series of demanding tests. The phones are mounted in large racks inside enclosed cabinets, connected to power, and then a roughly 8-hour burn-in test follows. During this time, the smartphone runs under load, different usage scenarios are cycled, and temperatures as well as system stability are monitored. Robotic “fingers” repeatedly press the side buttons in multiple locations to verify their responsiveness and lifespan.

The display also goes through a special De-mura process. A high-resolution camera scanning system reads the screen pixel by pixel and looks for tiny differences in brightness or color. Based on this data, a correction map is stored directly in the display chip, adjusting the brightness of individual pixels. In practice, this means the panel on your Find X9 will look evenly lit, without brighter corners or “patches” when displaying a solid color area.
Software, IMEI and packaging in clean rooms
The complete end of the manufacturing process takes place in clean rooms, where the final version of the system and pre-installed apps are loaded onto the smartphones. Production calibration data—for example from the De-mura process or radio module tests—remains stored in the device memory permanently. Each unit is assigned a unique IMEI production number, a final visual inspection is carried out, and the phone is placed into the box together with the charger, a cable, possibly a protective case, and other accessories.
What’s interesting is how closely machines and people work together here. A large part of the line is fully automated, but there’s still a team of operators who replenish components, handle exceptions, and check quality. For Scotty, who has been working on smartphones in China for more than ten years, this behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Find X9 was like a symbolic “closing of the circle” — from visiting markets for spare parts to the moment the finished flagship model leaves the factory and heads to the customer.
You can buy the Oppo Find X9 Pro from us at a great price
You can find the smartphone OPPO Find X9 Pro with the trusted seller Gshopper in the global version. The advantage is their tuned duty-free shipping, so you won’t have to pay any additional fees. Shipping is completely free. We received information directly from the seller that approximately 43 units of the dark color are currently available, and we’ll likely see the new batch only after February 2026, so it will sell out for a long time.
It’s a full-fledged global version (CPH2791),the one that will be sold by our sellers as well. It supports all of our networks, and the Color OS 16 system supports Slovak and Czech languages (source).
Important: For orders from Gshopper, our VIP support, which you can only get by purchasing via a computer (when buying via a smartphone, there’s a risk that you’ll lose the support). At the same time, we also want to point out that the final payment via PayPal on Gshopper is made in USD, so we recommend paying with a standard bank debit/credit card.
